I mean he can pass and run with the ball which is a lot more than Iwobi can do. But Iwobi had great “chance creation” stats at Arsenal so he’s actually an amazing player despite everything pointing to the total opposite when you actually watch him.

Some players just have a better likeability factor which detracts from their performances. If Bernard stinks the gaff out, he’s not fit. If sigurdsson does, he’s slaughtered. It just appears Bernard is a likeable sort of guy

Bernard has taken plenty of criticism since joining so the whole "doesnt take flak cause he aint fit" argument is nonsense.

He has just come back from a lengthy injury and NATURALLY looks a bit off the pace. Had we not had a team of melons and 8 injuries, I imagine Bernie would have been eased back in a little more.

He looks no different than he has the rest of his time here.

It is completely true that Everton are better when he is on the left. The problem is we aren't particularly good. The solution to that problem isn't in the squad. Until we totally overhaul our wide players we need to find a system that lets the fullbacks be the width and tries to play through the middle.

For all of the criticism over lack of goals, we were at our best in recent years when Gana and Bernard played. I don't think it's coincidence almost the same squad but those two has struggled.

I'm guessing the reason he didn't come on for Iwobi is they are trying to keep players fresh. Otherwise I really don't understand it. He should really have started ahead of Sigurdsson.

Need a big performance from the little man today. Injury hasn't helped but he's barely got a run of great performances together which is what is needed.
