It’s essentially the same though isn’t it, one scored more goals than the other, but was not the better player.
Pienaar and Baines was what kept us competitive all those years. Its not the same at all. Bernard hasn't been effective at any time he's been here.
He's just one of a long list of players who need to be moved on eventually and upgraded.
He played almost half the minutes last season and a quarter this compares to the Icelandic fraud, so per minute he absolutely rags the ferret everywhere, goals/assist/chances created/forward passes/dribbles/likability/tattoosBoth had 5 goal contributions last season.

I’m not saying Bernard is as good as Pienaar at all, I’m just saying goal tally alone isn’t always a fair justification of who is a better footballer. At times, Bernard has definitely been more effective than Sigurdsson in terms of freeing up Digne and linking the attack to the midfield. He wasn’t helped by being shoehorned onto the left hand side of a flat Burnley-style midfield 4 last season though.

“We tried to convince Everton to let him go, but the club wouldn’t agree even to a loan,” agent Adriano Spadoto told LaRoma24.it.
“I think we will try again in January and a definitive deal could be done for circa €7m.”
