Best city in the world?

Just the sharks, box jelly fish, blue ringed octopus and stone fish to worry about then!🤣
Aus is a great country and that east coast is lovely but there’s not much that won’t bite or sting you given a chance!
It's the snakes that worry me. Many venomous species found in & around suburbia - including the Eastern Brown which is very common. The second most deadly land snake on the planet. You really don't want to run into one of those buggers.

Still love the place

Reykjavik, simply for it's amazing restaurants, views from the sea and quiet and peaceful way of life, unlike the rush of London.

When my boyfriend and I went, the second night of the trip we saw it never go dark!. At 2am, it was like what you would see over here at like 7:00am before the sun sets!. Also, the streets were always full of people just for that one night!.

Would gladly pick any of the following out of the hat....
Buenos Aires
Rio
Bogota
Medellín
Quito
and maybe Salvador.

For small city..
Bariloche
Cork
Found both the be moody AF albeit enjoyed my limited time in both. Went out in Salvador for Carnival practice while the World Cup was on and it was heaving. We were escorted by 2 off duty armed police as the previous week the same trip had been held up by armed robbers.
Weekend in Rio on the same holiday checked into the hotel in Leme and and went straight to Ipanema (via cab) had a great day. Walked back and saw 1 x shoot out with a car stop gone wrong apparently, got back and discovered 2 x other couples who had been on the same coach to the hotel as us were mugged at gun point outside the hotel.
This was 20 ish years ago and while enjoyed the holiday and experiences I'm not sure I have the same youthful ignorance to rush back there!

Totally get you about security concerns in both places.

Not sure I'd want to live long term in either place but both are amazing to visit

I have never lived there, only visited. But I really like Melbourne & the regional centres. Some beautiful countryside in Vic.

Qld is far too humid for me.
You are right about country Vic. You need to live in Queensland for a year or two before you get used to the heat.

The best cities I've visited were Vancouver, Barcelona, and by a wide margin, London and Liverpool. Other cities that I liked were Aalborg (Denmark), Tucson, NYC, and San Antonio (USA).

On my to-go list is Tokyo, Kyoto, Lima, Addis Ababa, and Kuala Lumpur

Interested in what you say about Montreal if you get a chance to visit
