Loved Bogota and Bariloche. If I was to live in a city in South America then I'd probably have Bogota 2nd on my list after Bs. As.Would gladly pick any of the following out of the hat....
Buenos Aires
Rio
Bogota
Medellín
Quito
and maybe Salvador.
For small city..
Bariloche
Cork
Similar for me in Rio. Was there about 20 years ago too. Enjoyed it there and nothing bad happened to me but met plenty on my travels who had some stories. Could just remember even in the posher parts like Ipanema feeling a sense of menace in the airFound both the be moody AF albeit enjoyed my limited time in both. Went out in Salvador for Carnival practice while the World Cup was on and it was heaving. We were escorted by 2 off duty armed police as the previous week the same trip had been held up by armed robbers.
Weekend in Rio on the same holiday checked into the hotel in Leme and and went straight to Ipanema (via cab) had a great day. Walked back and saw 1 x shoot out with a car stop gone wrong apparently, got back and discovered 2 x other couples who had been on the same coach to the hotel as us were mugged at gun point outside the hotel.
This was 20 ish years ago and while enjoyed the holiday and experiences I'm not sure I have the same youthful ignorance to rush back there!
Interested in what you say about Montreal if you get a chance to visit
Funnily enough, this was my reaction to visiting Cape Town. I remember getting to the top of Table Mountain and taking in the full 360 degree view from Camps Bay to Signal Hill, the V&A waterfront, the city centre, Newlands Stadium, Kirstenbosch and Constantia - not all from the same spot on Table mountain, admittedly - absolutely wonderful. We visited each of the places and more, and they were all quick and easy to reach.I love to visit London. Loved living there before wife and kids .. love visiting with them.
Copenhagen is the coolest city in Scandanavia..
For me London > NYC.
But Cape Town folks… i haven’t met a non Saffa who visits CT and doesn’t straight away start googling property. Cape Town wins.
Definitely a lot of places left to visit..
Both class spots. Seville one of my favourite places, crippling hot in the Summer though. By far the friendliest of Spanish and the food there is incredible too.Went on a cruise last year and was well impressed with Cadiz so much so looking at the area including nearby Seville as a holiday destination in the future.
Had a trip to Cordoba booked but was cancelled due to covid. Will try and get back there. One of my favourite parts of the world. Both class spots. Seville one of my favourite places, crippling hot in the Summer though. By far the friendliest of Spanish and the food there is incredible too.
If you're out that way and have time, give Granada a go too. Stunning city.

I think if forced with the choice I'd have to stick my arm out and reach for a spoon and needleStart on the soft stuff first and hit the hard stuff later. It’s a good tactic
