Best ever solo artist

Well I'm 27 and I grew up hearing his music and regardless of his personal life and regardless of what you think of him he will always be remembered a legend in the music industry. Sure, he'll equally be remembered for a lot of other things outside of his music but we're talking about the best solo artists in this thread. I'm not MJ 'super-fan' but I can respect his music accomplishments.

Michael Jackson was superb, PERIOD! His dancing was legendary, PERIOD! Those that never rated him clearly no nothing about music. Just like Elvis Presley, there will never be another MJ, simples.

Music is all about personal taste. I didn't like Jackson's music but I wouldn't say that people who do are wrong. It's just their opinions. I'm not a fan of U2, Blur, Radiohead etc. etc. but I can recognise they're all good bands. Just I'm not into them.

That statement probably says more about you than people who don't like Michael Jackson mate. I hope for your sake it was said tongue in cheek but I've got a feeling it wasn't....

I was speaking of his rating in the music business. Of course it is all about personal preference, i dont like The Beatles all that much but i cant say they was'nt rated.

In my opinion - Nick Cave, brilliant lyrics, brilliant music. I have got all his albums and I desperately try to watch him live in Vienna each year but unfortunately his only Austrian concert is always sold out month before one even knows the tour date.

got to say i really hate nick cave with a passion.his music is just an awful drone to me.him and bowie are 2 artists i just have to switch off when there on the radio.

the greatest solo artist was elvis.
but id also go with bob marley, bob dylan or jimi hendrix.

another great solo act that isnt mentioned much and isnt very fashionable but is imo totally underrated ...john denver.

have to say im a bit indifferent to m jackson.i dont like him but i dont hate him either (btw i beleive he wasnt a peado and he was just a deeply troubled but innocent minded person who just got ripped to bits by a savage society)

as for his work i actually hated thriller , beat it and pretty much every track he made since that period of time.

the off the wall album though still sounds as good as music can get in parts.id put dont stop till you get enough in the top 5 feel good tracks of all time.
