Best Everton goal

Long range strike? Jags in front of the kop.

Best goal? Trevor Steven scoring the 3rd against Sunderland in 1985. Bracewell’s pass was the best in the history of football.

Have a good look at that Alex Young goal McMagic, If I’m not mistaken Maurice Norman didn’t play in that game, I think Tony Marchi was the centre half that day. Bill Brown was the Scottish ‘keeper and a very good one.
Apologies! Tony Marchi was a utility half-back and reputedly the best 12th man in the league.

It is a very common mistake over that incident, I always thought Maurice Norman played that day and I was at the game like yourself, but it was pointed out once or twice on different threads that it was Tony Marchi who played in that game.

Not in the spectacular category b any means but Rooney away at Leeds is a personal favourite of mine. Absolutely sends the Leeds player into early retirement when he turns on the ball.

This and King at Goodison v the rs.

Farrelly to keep us up.

Arguably my favourite was Sheeds having to retake the free in the Cup QF 1985 v Ipswich and sticking it in the other corner to the one that was disallowed. I was in the Main Stand with the Dublin ESC for that one.
Was that Ipswich game the day when Harry Catterick sadly took ill at Goodison and passed away? I think it was actually.

Was there with my Dad who was 70 at the time and my lad who was 8. My Dad left about a minute before Rooney scored and I was worried he’d missed it, then we found him about six feet of the ground holding on to a barrier at the back of the Family Enclosure, leaping up and down like a mad man! He’d turned and seen it just as he was headed out!
He died a couple of years later, and it was one of his last games at Goodison!
We've had little joy since 1995 sadly but for all out joy and celebration in the moment post 1995, that Rooney goal against Arsenal is number one for me.

Beating Man United on penalties in that cup semi final was a close second, but there was a real buzz and excitement about Everton in the Rooney/early Moyes years.

It felt like the giant might reawaken again. Sadly it was a false dawn but a great day. It's hard to believe it was over twenty years ago now though!

Correct my Rebel friend. Sadly I had an all too clear view from where I was in the Main Stand of the medics frantically pumping his chest, and trying to get his heart back to life, on the roof of the executive boxes. as I was in the Main Stand. I didn't realise until later that it was the Catt. RIP
