What makes an great intro? Is it the opening hook? Is it a grand entrance? Is it something that draws you in deeper because you know you can't turn the song off?
All of the above.
A good intro, should almost stop you dead in your tracks, the first time you hear it.

I'll accept that, but I also like the alternative--once you hear the intro you can't turn the song off. Someone linked up This Charming Man and that does it for me--love that song but once I hear the opening I can't turn it off.
