Utter Cad.
The Baltic Fleet is good too (with the proviso that I live in London now and only get up to Liverpool once a year or so, so I may well be hopelessly out of touch).

The swan has the best jukey in town, if you can tolerate the stench of sweat and the flies buzzing round.Didn't like the Cobden - Had a strange smell on the two occasions I went. Seen Simon O'Brien in there once had a gab about the blues to him. He used to live across the road, dunno whether he still does. Was seein' some right weird type (For about a fortnight) what lived above/below the hairdressers across the road from the one a bit further up - can't remember the name of it now, but it was the better of the two I thought.
Back to town. The Swan on Wood St used to have a great selection on the jukey - Served Hoegaarden on tap too! Bit of a bikeys/rockers alehouse in the evenings, but never had any problems there.
Good boozer but too far away from everything for meThe Baltic Fleet is good too (with the proviso that I live in London now and only get up to Liverpool once a year or so, so I may well be hopelessly out of touch).

The Cobden vaults was the first pub I ever got completely smashed in. Keep saying going to go to Peter Kavanaghs, just never get round to itSee this is what happens when you don't specify Liverpool.
Anyway, ship and mitre, Peter kavanaghs, Caledonia etc all decent boozers in town.
By ours the new Glebe is a decent boozer with good ale (Estrella and San Miguel on tap) and the black horse is boss in summer with the new telly and the big garden.

Lucky youI was intrigued by the very "divey" shabby look of that place. Never went in though.
