Best TV/Film Endings

I know we are talking about ending here, but I never understand the love for the Shining. Having read the book, I’m in complete agreement with Stephen King that the movie is just nowhere near as good. In the book, Jack Nicholson’s character is written sympathetically - he’s a guy struggling to hold his family together and turns to the drink so he’s already in the slippery slope, which makes him susceptible to losing it, but in the movie he’s an ars3hole from the outset. Quite bemused as to why the critics have come to like it.
It's Kubrick so automatically every critic has to fawn over it like some doe eyed puppy.

Probably only movie ending that thoroughly surprised me, i remember watching it in cinema and it was wtf.
Even Stephen King was surprised and he liked it.

I wish more movies/tv shows do surprise ending like that instead usual cliche stuff
Completely forgot about that….yes that’s even more effective ending than Seven….that packs a real emotional punch - that stayed with me for about a week after seeing it

Already been said but Blackadder goes Forth. The ending is probably the best in terms of British TV.
What’s interesting is when the cast did the ending they all thought it was ridiculous as they basically stood up and then fell down. The ending was going to be re-written until some bright spark at the BBC who watched it, decided to simply just do it in slow motion. This applies to the music as well, which is the theme music but also slowed down.

This simple change created a very powerful ending scene.
iirc, it went out just prior to the November Remembrance Weekend.
