I think Saving Private Ryan feels the most genuine for me.. Which also means I think highly of the (Band of Brothers) series.
 
So many great calls from my fellow posters. However, it is shocking that probably the greatest all time war movie has been omitted. No question about it, #1 is...

No doubt it's a great film, but watching it again, the second half of the film does kind of look like it's made in a British Industrial Estate.

Brilliant first half though.

That's true, but there were some signature moments in the "Vietnam" half too.

Grave of the Fireflies, no 21.

Bet you didn't think an animation could rank so highly, but it is a brilliant film.
 
Have to watch this again soon.
