Well anyone would, hes full of confidence and probably believes anything he touches will go in, playing in the best team in the world. Beto has had the full Everton'd experience. Hes arrived with massive expectations, which with the dross around him are inpossible to live up to. He has hardly played, had 40,000 booing him and the team and criticisim on social media to crush his confidence. I bet if Beto played for City, had a run of games and he had that header it would have gone in....all speculation of course. Im.not saying hes anywhere in the same class as haaland (i mean look at the values of the 2), but im saying the team, confidence, supporter etc make a massive difference. If everyone wants to get on his back, then crack on let that particular merrygoround continue....i for one will cheer for him above all crap i hear at Goodison and give the fingers to those i hear booing our own players.

Haha you clearly haven't been to Goodison he gets sung for every game he's a cult hero. I don't know why people are determined to ignore the most likely answers in these cases he's 26 he has no international caps he was available for no up front fee, his record in other leagues is just OK and he has missed good chances ever since he made his debut against a league 2 team its not a confidence thing he just isn't a very good footballer. He has some good points though and if we can work with him he can be a useful player I hope but theres no point making up silly scenarios to explain very simple things.

It was a more generic point about people getting on players backs. I must say I havent heard any specific cult hero songs for Beto so perhaps i sit in the wrong place to hear them.

Well, yes but its just a point of view.
Statisticaly Beto gets just over 1 shot per game that hes played. He has missed 1 big chance every 3 games.
Its a very similar story for DCL. Very few chances created fir him and 1 big chance missed every 3 games.
Haaland gets 3 shots per game. He misses one big chance per game.
So my point is it easy to look amazing when the team around you create so much. You can miss a sitter every game and noo e cares because you slam the next one in the back of the net. We dont create enough for our strikers so they always look poor.

Thats true but its a different point I think. Haaland would do better than our strikers because he is better than them just like Lukaku did better than Kone and Jelavic and Anichebe and Sandro with the same players around him because he was better than them. Halaand wouldn't score as many here as he does at City but part of the problem we have is the quality of the strikers themselves thats not all of it but its part of it so acting like nobody could do better is silly they definitely could thats alls i'm saying my only mention of Haaland was very tongue in cheek in response to you nothing to do with my point overall.

Being everton's big striker is the MOST painful job in world football given our maybe-one-clear-cut-chance-a-game creativity levels, expectation level and our tendancy to sit off most of the game.
That saif, analytics and modern scouting can get in the fudging bin. I dont want a play whos in the top percintile of pressures per 90 or whatever tf just sign a player who looks like he enjoys being on the ball for gods sake.
