2024/25 Beto

Yip great awareness and intelligence from him for the first goal
Yeah, like we all know his touch isn't the best, he sees passes he can't execute, and all that, but he's actually very very good about using his body to protect the ball or shield off space, as well as seeing and timing runs. He'll miss some chances, but the stuff he does well actually gets him more chances than he'd otherwise get, plus helps open space for others.

I think today's game has shown that you're posting patronising nonsense.
As always, I won’t make up my mind after one game because I’m not 7 years old. If we continue being able to get the most out of Beto by playing through balls then I will happily come back and say I was wrong. If it turns out we just played a crap team and made the most of it I wont, but more to the point neither will you, because you’ll just pretend you were right anyway. Your first thought after a 4-0 home win being to quote my post on here says a lot, I was still celebrating at the ground while you were digging up posts on here to ‘prove’ yourself right. Only one of us should be embarrassed, and it’s not me.

Said before; for his size, you think he is a targetman. He isn't.
As we saw today, he needs the ball played into the channels to be effective and he is good on 1v 1 siruations.
More Darren Bent than Duncan Fergeson.
19 games 7 goals, in all completions
Not the finished article by any means but David Moyes, will play to his strengths and will get the best out of him.
Delighted for him, likable lad and he is playing his part..

Just thinking he would score about 40 a season if we kept James Rodriguez

I'm imagining DCL for the first goal taking a touch outside on his right foot, turning and killing the chance and for the 2nd goal, trying to take an extra touch across the keeper and it being either too heavy or putting the finish straight at him. Beto stayed composed and thankfully he seems to grasp the concept of needing as few touches as possible when you're up front

We played football and to his feet...hm..he looked decent. DCL would never of made the runs and he's pants 1 on 1. Side note Gueye has been stupid good
DCL may have made the runs, but he would’ve been offside for both. Absolutely born offside that lad. Being generous, he maybe finishes the second one on a good day.

If we actually look to play through balls and create chances for our strikers rather than expect them to hold the ball up or complete flick ons, Beto has every chance of bagging 10-15 a season. The boy can finish. Think it was Saints away earlier in the season where his touch and finish was fantastic he was just unfortunate to be offside, thought at the time there’s no way DCL does that.

He's got what you can't train, natural finishing. Also got that determination you either have it or don't.

Very raw in done ways ofc, but maybe to be expected from someone who pretty much started insanely late in the game age wise.

Should have a good run of games now, to show us maybe he's got a future here after all.
.one thing I will say, Moyes is pragmatic, regardless of his initial opinion on a player if the player produces and does his job, Moyes will change opinion on the guy - he always was that way too.
