2024/25 Beto

Lukaku was shocking at holding the ball up, but he had other players round him where it would stick. Would be easier for him to hold it up and lay it off if the closest player too him could then keep it and recycle it themselves. Obviously in an ideal world we would replace Beto in the summer for someone who can do it all better, but I imagine that might be a bit costly, and both Harrison and Doucoure should be leaving in the summer so getting more technical players in their positions should be easier.
You don’t play for the biggest cubs in the. World and get 122caps for Belgium, by having shocking hold up play. Yes it wasn’t brilliant, but it was miles better than Beto’s

Why should we be happy with a striker or any player for that matter with Weaknesses.
All 3 need moving on in the summer . And it won’t stick as much to a attacking midfielder or winger, because it’s the striker who will be the one who get the majority of the balls played forward
Agree with this in principal, but it sounds like we'll be limited in what we can do in the summer. If that's the case, I'd rather focus on getting good, creative players feeding a limited striker than get a lethal striker who is provided no service because our midfield is utterly useless.

In an ideal world, none of them would be in the first team.

Beto was on his own play Doucs & thats always going to be the case .....
I just think the pairing is aids Joey. I do think Doucore has declined, but Doucs functions better as the guy getting into good positions than supporting the striker. He and Beto are constantly on top of each other. And when he needs to make the pass he can't. He is more of a goalscorer that isn't scoring goals. He needs to be dropped for that reaspn.

I think the point that people are missing is unless we sign an absolutely world class striker (which is unlikely), they may not even be effective because of the way we are currently built. Build a creative team first then work from there. See how this team functions with Ndiaye and McNeil and build from there. Fullbacks should be a priority with one attacking player across the front the second priority.

Hopefully he has attracted some teams to come in for him in the summer. He has improved his all round game but still nowhere near the level needed.

Our two man midfield cannot cope with a passenger like Doucs...
