2024/25 Beto

I'm sure DCL is far from happy at the situation in the team, but by the same token, he plays every week no matter what. A bang average striker at best can go 20 games without a goal and still be assured his starting place. Elite strikers find a way to make things happen, not miss the chances they do get, so I'm not sure Dom-the-undroppable has all that much to complain about tbh.

I've more sympathy with Beto who is quite clearly never going to get a run of games under Dyche, no matter what he does. Any other manager at any other team, and DCL should consider himself lucky to be on the bench never mind guaranteed first choice with his 6 or 7 goals a year.
I suspect t his tears after he scored backed the rumours he may be off to a team in Italy?..

It wouldn't surprise me if Beto went back to Italy in the January window. Did well at Udinese, 22 goals in 65 games, may well be suited more to SerieA, and he's never going to get regular starts here. A good move for him will be yet another failed striker for us, another flop who was on Thelwell's radar, and another player we'll no doubt take a loss on.

Think Saturday proved that Beto has more movement than DCL. The old DCL used to fight and challenge for every cross and cause havoc. Now he is waiting for a cross to land on his head. The Beto cameo saw Beto get on the end of a few crosses in the few minutes he had. Energy and commitment from Beto that DCL once had but doesn't any more. I see stats now show unsuccessful crosses which is a bit weird to me as an unsuccessful cross is dependant on movement of striker. Beto made some crosses successful whereas DCL made crosses unsuccessful. Yes I know some crosses are poor and don't beat the first man but if they beat the first man then the cross is in the mix and the onus is on the striker to challenge and meet the cross. Seems like DCL has given up

I guess it's a good thing that he gets a chance, but perhaps unlucky that it is against united at old Trafford. I am sure he would have prefer to be starting at home against easier opposition. Saying that if he has an impact today, then there is no excuse not to start him moving forward.

Deserves this.
He absolutely does. We got our pants pulled down with what we paid for him, but he really cares, gives 100% and he is one of the few unpredictable aspects of our side.

DCL is on the beach before the season is half way done. Hope Beto does enough to keep him on the bench until he inevitably slinks away on a free or nominal fee.
