2024/25 Beto

His absolute psychopathic tackle yesterday will either endear him to Fabio Dychello or he will never step foot on the Goodison pitch ever again after that cameo.

He's clearly at least 3rd choice, probably won't see the pitch now that we can use Broja. I'm sure Chermiti will pass him again shortly as well.

Whether he’s benefited from tired defenders or not, he’s looked a far bigger goal threat than DCL this season. Unfortunately the rest of his game absolutely stinks.

Why doesn't Dyche play him?
I don’t think he can play with his back to goal particularly well, which imho, is Probobly first and foremost for Dyche.
Maybe they thought they could coach that into him.
What I found interesting in the last few mins with Broja on the pitch v Ciry was a lot of his high lights were bringing the ball out or running towards goal after clearances, which seems to me to be more Beto’s MO.
Not sure it was tactical mind, more desperate / last ditch clearances.

Not sure I feel like Beto has been given a fair chance since he arrived, but certainly not this season.
If he’s off in Jan I think it will be shame we never got the chance to see him start & play the majority of 4-5 games on the bounce.
Yes never going to adapt to a league on the bench he’s raw as hell but I’d be willing to bet he’d have a better goal return than DCL with the same minutes plus more impact on the game.

We have a habit of dismissing players for not scoring when we get 15% possession and one chance to put the ball in the net. Beto may fall into the waste of space category or the we aren't playing the best way to bring out his talent to fore. Probably more like a bit from A and a lot from B.

What I would definitely say we need to improve the squad and the way we play for the benefit of all. If we sell Beto to give funds to boost other areas it does not confirm his failing, it is just the quickest way to get from where we are now to were we would like to be. Which is to dominate the ball and thus give our attackers most chances possible within a game to stick the ball in the net.
