Exactly. It’s like when people used to say ‘why are they using maupay as a target man?’. Well they’re not trying to are they. I mean lampard had his flaws but he wasn’t a complete madman, he wasn’t sending the team out with the intention of them launching it in the air to a 5ft nothing striker, that’s just what we ended up doing because we couldn’t get enough of a grip of games to do whatever we were actually aiming to do.The same applies now.

Yep.. Pickford seemed to be complaining that he’d lost it 4 times when knocked up to him on the half way line - so why bother doing it?

Knock it in behind, or into the channels. Or as you say, play Alcaraz who can carry the ball toward him a bit.

Oh yeah, we have been fighting relegation the entire time.

Maybe hoof to Dom to run blindly down a channel or lay a header off to nobody isn't a tactic that works consistently either.
