Big 4 monopoly

Maybe if we then fall back to the position we are in now (or worse). But what if we keep rising and win the Premiership in the next few years and stay near the top?

Maybe we never will be viewed in the same way as the current "big 4" but the more success we have a as a club the more the media are going to latch on to us, especially if the [Poor language removed] or Chelsea go right down the shitter.

Of course i wouldn't dream of not wanting success but like the saying goes : be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

I'm wishing for the [Poor language removed] to go down the shitter....

If they occupy 4 places, those places being referred to as a single entity, hence a monopoly

nice try, monty, but no cigar - we were nearer to a monopoly in the [Poor language removed]'s golden era.

i think that as well as everton we need other clubs to be regularly breaking into the top league positions, thereby making it more open & forcing these clubs to stop budget planning based on almost automatic qualification for the cl group stages.

This thing about the big 4 monopoly is a crock of [Poor language removed] if you ask me.

Ok, its hard to look past the boot and the scottie dog, the train and the car, but if you'd just give the ship a chance...

i wonder if west ham supporters always want to be the iron

The Top Four is a meltish term dreamed up by the Sky Generation who want to put the uber ted clubs on a pedestal.

If you use the term 'top four' then you really need to have a word with yourself/support Newcastle.

When I was a young 'un there was The Big Five, The RS, Us, Manure, The Arse and Spurs. Empires rise and fall.

i used the term the media always use, doesn't mean i believe they're any better its just for clarity sake.

the issue really hasn't been discussed much, does anyone else agree that rather than hoping we'll overcome the clubs to displace them from the top 4 table spots, if we just let them self destruct financially things will open up? everyone seemed to think i believe that everton will be responsible for breaking up the monopoly, but that's not what i think at all, i think it'll wreck itself and we'll simply fill the void.

I recall figures of £30 mil or thereabouts having been mentioned. Our fan base is already growing, my daughters mate worked p/t in JJB and EFC strips out sold RS ones 3/2, obviously as we all know local support for the blues is rock solid but our main aim must be a bigger stadium, generating substantially more income, Gooners and Mancs show this to be so.

Yes we can break into the 'big four' but once in the biggest problem will be to stay there :o

Its the last line Monty..thats what makes it all to real for us or anyone whos trying to break into the big four

Its going to be a long time before we're in any position to really compete and i mean transfer wise and results wise over a period of time.

We need more money generated by more people going to games so the stadiums a must at some point aand even then thats no guarantee of sustained success.

We have to follow the manc money blue print and hope we can get something like them in being street smart money wise, otherwise we'll be always playing catch up.

To some extent yes. What is gonna happen to Manure when Fergie goes? He IS Utd for the last 20 years, and no matter who takes over when he inevitably leaves, it is gonna be very difficult for them to sustain the success i think. I don't expect them to be down in the bottom half of the table or anything, but they wont be the dominant force they have been. Likewise Arsenal and Wenger.

I hate ti say it but Liverpool can prob only get better, i think they are really being held back by the board shenanigans and Benittez.

Chelsea will always be able to buy competetiveness whilst Roman is there, but how long will he be? Don't get the impression he's goin anywhere soon, but in another 4/5 years? Who knows...
