Big Dunc Memories

Apart from when he led an awful team in 98 to survival, he was worth his weight in gold that season. Was also essential in 95 turning the team around. Played with an undiagnosed compressed sciatic nerve for years, must have been in constant.

But of course we aren't allowed to praise any players without some cry arse coming on and pointlessly comparing him to someone else, like you have to like one or the other.
Why am I a cryarse for stating an opinion? The video probably proved my point that he was a waste of space and on the odd occasion he’d pop up and do something. I’m also comparing him to someone who probably should be getting the legend tag over him. If you like both players, then fine, that’s your right as a supporter. I like one a hell of a lot more than the other. Did I celebrate Ferguson’s goals? Of course I did, but I don’t put him on a pedestal.

My main memories of Ferguson, always injured except when we were playing Man United or the rs. That ridiculous bagpipe serenade when he came out of prison. Never playing with a hint of an injury. I also have good memories like the 2 goals away to Man United when Hinchcliffe laid them on, and that header at Goodison but generally didn't like the guy. Wouldn't be in my top 50 Everton players I've seen.

The type of player who impressed wools.

"Give it Dunc!!!"
Patterson & Big Dunc your favourites mate - both Scottish too  -

Duncan as a youngster was a class act - until Booze & pigeons got in his way - he shone because he was in a poor team - his first spell was good after that more time on the treatment table - Bobby Robson must have been delighted to here bungling Bill K on the telephone wanting him back- -

How he ended up in the legends' suite at Goodison is a bit laughable - TBH - as I posted before just an icon never a legend -

He was a formidable header of the ball and he had a good left foot.

But he was completely undisciplined - and there's no place for that in a footballer unless they're complete geniuses who's great play can far outshine their misdemeanours...and Ferguson wasn't anywhere near to being one of those.

I remember him being injured a lot, being booked or sent off a fair bit, and having the odd good game (all in that order of frequency)
