Big Dunc Memories

Apart from when he led an awful team in 98 to survival, he was worth his weight in gold that season. Was also essential in 95 turning the team around. Played with an undiagnosed compressed sciatic nerve for years, must have been in constant.

But of course we aren't allowed to praise any players without some cry arse coming on and pointlessly comparing him to someone else, like you have to like one or the other.
Mick Rathbone (ex physio) has spoken about this and said its a miracle he actually played as much as he did due to the pain this caused. Said it took them ages to diagnose this problem.

My main memories of him tbh are either being injured or banned.
A talented footballer no doubt but completely undisciplined.
You can be a feared hard man and still remain on the pitch, Reidy being an example.
When on form he could be unplayable and that was the frustrating thing for me, too many things had to be aligned to get him to that point.

A 'Cult Hero' rather than an Everton great. He's absolutely nowhere near Everton great status.

His elevated status amongst some of our fans merely highlight what a barren period the club is going through.

Good player, terrible injury record, questionable levels of motivation.
