Until the custodians of the game take it seriously then it'll continue. Relegate clubs who's fans continue to be racist/sectarian/homophonic etc and ban National teams from tournaments. Only way to stop it.

Banning of national teams should be the first sanction, why should other nations be subject to abuse because certain countries can't control their idiots .

Well, there is a small problem with that, granted not re the team and the stuff they filmed themselves, but, if a group of criminals say from argentina went and caused merry hell during or after a match and were dressed in Brazil shirts in attempt to put pressure on authorities to act unjustly against the Brazil side and its supporters.

Not sure how many Argentinians speak Portugese.

In general, I think it would be relatively easy for authorities to determine if fans are from a different country than they are claiming to be from
 

The Clubs couldn’t care less about colour or sexuality. If a player is good enough they will even hire a Tory.

The fans on the other hand have all sorts of prejudices, and even if they give their own players an easy ride, they will use any deviancy from what they think a “Normal” footballer should be to hammer them even if they believe what they are shouting/typing or not.

No surprise there. Mind you as sectarian chants go, attacking the Virgin Mary is interesting as most non- Catholic denominations believe in this doctrine as regards the Incarnation if not in perpetuity.

I wonder to which ecclesiasticalical branch these intellectual heavyweights ascribe.
