Bill Kenwright

His cult of personality, carefully cultivated over the years through his media cronies, is starting to slowly evaporate right around the time he wants to cement his legacy as the one who helped us into the new stadium (as deluddd as that is). Long time blues I know who have always made excuses for him (hes a blue, doing what he can, least of our problems etc) are now seeing him for what he is and have turned fully against him.

He has always been obsessed with peoples image of him. I have no doubt he is very unhappy at the situation unfolding at present.

He's trying a drip drip approach to undermine his opposition.

That mention of him today in the Pickford announcement. The type of thing we've all had to put up with for years

Isn't going to work

Thankfully they are starting one by one to come round to the fans way of thinking. More and more is creeping into the media about the club. There was a thing in the Mirror online the other day calling for him to admit 'times up' It's taken many years but people are on to him now and what he has been doing and yes Farhad is a clueless clown who is little more than a oligarchs errand boy but a lot of the stuff with Kenwright goes way back before the pair of them turned up.
Yes but I don’t think they are on to him because of anything he has done. The catalyst has been the headlock drama, and I now think because of the noise, the media are now just questioning why he still seems to be intent to hang on after 33 years.

It is ridiculous really, you never to get to hear how the owner, CEO or DoF has been instrumental in people joining or committing to the club….only ever the Chairman. Most sound people of independant thought were on to him as a con artist around 4 or 5 years after he bought the club

By the way just one additional thought. The fan base really needs to reflect on how gullible, tolerant they have been in some quarters towards a personality like Bill Kenwright. It is important to safeguard the future of the club because there are many imposters out there with significant funds behind them who would still get involved and the message has to be clear……not at a club like EFC - they can look to invest in another (when he does eventually leave)

Amazing how anyone in his position thinks they can keep limping on. He might get a little bit of credit if he puts his hands up and says 'I have listened to the fans I will resign immediately'.

Everyday he does not will just further ruin any of the (few) good bits he ever did and like you say show to everyone he's in it for himself. Anything Kenwright thinks he's is currently bringing to the table is massively outweighed by the negatives. To think he can just ride it out shows a disconnect with reality that a Tory politician would be proud of.
Unless removed he'll cling on for as long as he's alive. That is the reality of the situation. He will well know that whenever he does spin off this mortal coil, the media will fall over themselves in writing positive eulogies and apologists will be quick to romanticise the plucky Everton pre-Moshiri and diminish his role after the takeover. People generally tend to avoid talking ill of the dead and the fact that he's presided as chairman through this most unsuccessful time in the clubs history, which predates Moshiri by some distance, will be swept under the carpet.

I remember listening to the Ex Pat podcast and one of the guests was one of the people that went to meet BK in the west end. He confirmed that Bill said to them that he tells people to mention him - absolutely incredible 😣

His pathetic attempts to take any reflected glory from good news surrounding events at Everton reminds me of the halcyon days when Peter Swales and “Deadly” Doug Ellis were always in the news.

“Deadly” Doug at his peak once claimed to have invented the bicycle kick!

I seem to recall that Kenwright allegedly claimed to have given Elvis a tour of London with Tommy Steele accompanying him.

Spot on - he definitely reminds me of those types of characters but whilst they got out of he way of the post PL international cash cow - our very own loveable thespian turned producer decided to hog the limelight just for a generation more

People might think this is a joke.

But it isn't. He really did claim that.

If he turns up tomorrow , it creates a unnecessary volatile atmosphere. He knows this and will want to use this to his advantage via the media .Don't be surprised if there are “reports” of “confrontations” “abuse” and so on.

It’s interesting how it’s all gone quiet with the media backing him isn’t it.

No “the soul of Everton” type articles
No “be careful what you wish for” articles

Or any other propaganda.

He’s brought a lot of this on himself, it been building up for years and years , it’s finally reached boiling point for many.

My advice for what’s it’s worth, don’t play into this ego maniacs hands. Keep calm, support the manager and team and don’t do anything to give him an excuse to play victim. That would suit him down to the ground.

He could have really protected his legacy by bowing out gracefully - either taking a non-executive role, reducing his influence (board member but not Chairman) or retiring fully to a Club President or 'honorary life whatever role he wanted' and left the running of the club to someone else. We would have then been able to at least focus on some of the 'good times' he actually brought - Moyes and Moshiri are relatively good things he did - but instead we're seeing him fight this strange battle with the fans and we are not able to see what he's actually doing. the stadium is a good thing, definitely, but if he wants to be there when we move, he doesn't have to be Chairman, why can't he just appoint himself whatever he wants and leave the actual club to more skilled people?

(I'm assuming he doesn't want to leave and nobody can force him out, so the best option is that he's some sort of honorary title and he's out of the way. the only realistic alternative to 'sack the board' is that there are 2-3 new board members with more influence and some sort of executive who starts to push DBB - i.e. a deputy CEO or a new Director of Football Operations, or a Commercial director who prove to be more ambitious and skilled than DBB. You can see this in many companies where the leaders are comfortable and don't want to be threatened, and even appointments and recruitment is very safe. The moment you hire someone who might shake up the company, they get scared, I think this is what has happened)

I’d say he’ll be there tomorrow.
well done match going blues, it seems that over the space of 4 weeks, youve all copped yourselves on and the danger threat has gone away, phew, it was only one of them 3 game danger threats.
it’s time to bask in bills glory!

It's incredible isn't it, that our Chairman would actually play these media games and try to trap fans into doing something that he can use against us. what have we come to? I agree, support the team , not the board, and it is really possible to conduct a campaign that is critical of the board, but not abusive.
