@4737carlin - do you concede that point then?

Ultimately we are all Evertonians mate and I respect your opinion but it’s pure fantasy to say Bill was a good owner by any reasonable measure
It's an interesting point mate, but the mess Moshiri has made of his ownership, and the damage he has done to Everton runs a lot deeper then Bill's failings of only having us playing in Europe on several occasions, never facing relegation which failing to win an actual trophy, and never having FFP restrictions.
Bill was a good owner who never damaged us, only stabilised us, he took over a rotting club and turned it around and built a platform for his successor to build on, only for that man to take us to a place even worse then were it was when Bill bought it.

But he didnt, thats a pure fact, if you were around before he bought the club and see the mess it was in and compare it to the club that he sold to Moshiri you would know this
I don't think 'fact' means what you think it means.

It's very possible to argue that his stewardship saw us sink lower than we had in generations, fail to capitalise on the opportunities provided by the booming Premier League and doggedly keep hold of the reigns until he found a billionaire buyer who would let him keep playing with his train set.

We didn't go bankrupt under his ownership. That's the only fact I see. The 'damage' he may have done - or not done - is not measurable.

Yeah but that happened when Sir Philip Carter was chairmen, not Kenwright, also to note the sale of Rooney was also while Carter was chairmen, something else people try to pin on Bill, although Carter gets a pass and should always be respected because of the great work he did in the 80s

Finished 17th in 03/04.
Never won a trophy and over seen the majority of our longest spell without one.
FFP didn't exist so can hardly be used as a positive for him can it?

They are desperate grasps at finding positives.

Thats true about the restictions not existing back then but when you look at how Moshiri threw money around compared to how well we played the market before his arrival, its safe to say if it had of done Bill wouldnt of been the wrong side of the rules.

So if Carter should take the blame as chairman then that means that kenwright should take the blame for these past few years even if moshiri was the owner ?

No not really, different circumstances, as much as you would like to only a fool would blame this mess on Bill, if he was responsible ask yourself why nothing like this happened pre Moshiri
