Bill Kenwright

I've no malice to Kenwright. But what he's done to the club horrifies me.

It's like a version of Back To The Future 2 where (sorry if I'm spoiling it for anyone) Marty goes back to the future and finds the present day is altered. He works out it was Biff Tannen. Kenwright is Biff in this alternate dark world yet he's still screwed it up for Everton.
But what's he done, what's he done which is that bad?

Tell you what in the time he owned Everton let's make a list of all the similar size clubs who got relegated

Manchester City
West Ham twice
Leicester twice
Sunderland
Leeds
Middlesbrough
Newcastle twice
Blackburn
Aston Villa

All relegated while Kenwright owned us, all similar size clubs, the only reason we are not on that list is becusse of Kenwright and his ability to stand by and work with a manager, his ability to listen.

We sit in the list with Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, United and Murder Incorporated, ever presents in the Premier League. If it wasn't for True Blue holdings and Kenwright buying us this would not of happened.

If anyone thinks he was the bad guy have a look at were we are now, and we're were heading under his successor

Its funny you mention these clubs, cos when Bill joined the Board, Everton were head and shoulders above all the names on that list bar Liverpool.

Where are we now?

Where are we now? slowly dying under his successor praying for a result against the mighty Wolves in our next game and trying to stay ahead of Nottingham Forest.

Thats fair, but this isnt the Moshiri thread mate.

We are talking about Bill Kenwright.

So again, where are the other ever present Premier League teams?

Have they also gone 28 years without winning a trophy?
No they haven't, but it's quite an achievement just keeping us playing those sides twice a season when no other clubs managed it.
I'd rather have our last quarter of a century then that of Wigan, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough's.

Just remind me, who let his successor through the door ?
Kenwright did, he gets credit for that, we wanted him to sell, he did, he looked after us very well and passed us over to someone else. He delivered on his promise to take care of us.
What his successor does is on his shoulders.

In hindsight Kenwrights time was good, he was the right man at the right time to give us stability, and that highlights what a bad job is being done now.

In 33 years as a director he has done nothing to move the club forward, it makes sense to find people that have done worse but once Everton were the best. The absolute best. Now Everton are mediocre and I think he is partly responsible for that. He has refused to step aside when other more qualified and candidates with greater expertise would have driven the club forward. The club is a shell of what it once was, because it has stood still for 33 years, and he must take responsibility for that.
