Bill Kenwright

That is a fair argument and the points you made can't be dismissed. But a lot of other big clubs from the late 80s had an even bigger fall from grace in that period. Leeds for example won the league in 91/92 and then saw a massive decline not too long after. Sheffield Wednesday have spent the majority of their time outside of the top league. Nottingham forest were a big club too and saw themselves until recently outside of the top flight.

Yeah it's desperately disappointing that we didn't capitalise on the premier league when It was formed like the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester Utd did. But we weren't the only ones. As advised many others struggled. I just don't think it's as straight forward as just blaming Bill for everything when in some ways it could be said that he saved us when other teams like Leeds, forest and wednesday fell into the abyss for so long.

Maybe the investment never was there, and when it did arrive with Moshiri the rules had changed stopping us from being able to do what Chelsea or City did.
I mean maybe.
But when Kenwright joined the board, only Liverpool had more titles than us.
We were in a different league to Leeds, Wednesday and Forest.
We spearheaded the PL in the first place.
We've had 3 owners since the 80's and Kenwright is the ONLY common denominator for all three.
Even though we havent been relegated, we may as well have been because the mind set has changed.
Since the cup win, our most successful period was intentionally marketed as 'plucky little Everton punching about their weight'.
This was Kenwright managing expectations as he knew he couldn't bring the club back to the top table.
That mindset still exists.
Neville Southall rages against it.
Kenwright is responsible for it.

Apart from what’s been said above, it’s just incredibly odd that an individual would join a board in 1989, and in 2023, at the age of 77 still needs to be forced out. Whether he had been successful or not, that is is just staggeringly odd and indicates that he is fixated with the club and his position in the club. He thinks he is Everton

Absolutely nailed it

Bitter lessons from history suggest he will be appointed President for Life tomorrow and will announce his autobiography, titled: "Good Times: The Bill Kenwright Story"

‘From the Boys Pen to Chairman’ the amazing story of a man who took a giant and put it to sleep……..

Aided and abetted in no small part by David Moyes sound bites and catchphrases

When I went past Goodison earlier, am sure I could hear "Give Me Just A Little More Time" by Chairman of the Board on repeat drifting through an open window ...
