"Everton football club woukd like to announce that Bill Kenwright has stepped down as Chairman of Everton football club. He's held an unbroken position on the board for over 30 years. We'd like to thank him for his service."

No dewey eyed good bye video, no gushing over magnificent 7th places finishes, no turd eating grin as he recalls AJ holding up 3 fingers, and certainly no mention of his greatest night at Goodison when some dozy arsed pub brawler won a boxing match against a relative bum.

The chair of any organisation is hugely important. That's why when the role can not be performed fully for whatever reasons, the chair mist step down for the sake of good governance. You see it all the time "Chair steps down due to ill health etc." So if BK is ill - he must step down. However we know that our club and good governance are strangers to each other - so the charade continues.

If he stepped down, would it matter that he is still the major shareholder? Would that still give him influence? Do you find a replacement from a list of businessmen presumably without football connections?

Unfortunately, (not that the day will ever come) but if it did, Bill would be the one writing it. So it'll be a long, lengthy post about how he saved us etc.

But seriously though mate. There's still loads of Kenwright acolytes out there. Maybe they've dwindled on here but you can still find them on Facebook and twitter and saddest of all, at the match.

He disappeared as soon as the announcement of Kenwright staying on happened

He’s going nowhere until we move into Bramley Moore. It’s his legacy, in his view it’s the stadium he gave us.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he had a stand named after him.
