That win feels better then any other, don't play very well but score a pen in the 90th min after they missed two pens, touch place to go and we have come away with 3 points, COYB!!!!!!

I think we improved when Bily came on. He looked okay to me.

To be fair I thought he was decent in possession, but he chose all the wrong options and looked drained of confidence again.

Moyes on Sky "both pens where dives" and "A wins a win"

Looks proper pissed off aswell

They weren't dives as there was contact, but it was poor sportsmanship from Formica on both. He saw the outstretched leg and purposely fell over it, and then felt a tiny bit of contact and leaped to the floor. He did the same at the other end of the pitch as well. Looks a bit of a tit.

However "a win's a win" makes me think he won't learn anything. If he doesn't learn anything from this I'll fume myself to an aneurysm.

That start to the second half scared me s***less, I can tell you. Loved hearing the words "both pens were dives" love it. No doubt cos we won there will be no reason to chance it for the villa game. Here's hoping that the confidence shoots up. Never loved goal posts as much as i did today.

Ratings.

Howard - 9. Kept us in it when we had no right to be in it. Rewind 12 months to this same fixture and the exact opposite happened!

Neville - 5. An individual mistake or two and as captain he must take some responsibility for the lack of cohesion and disarray throughout the team. Especially because "being a good captain" seems to be the only reason he makes the first XI.

Jags - 4. He looks so poor at the moment. Is the Arsenal thing affecting him?

Distin - 6. Not great but a few good moments to bail us out. Him sprinting across the defence to beat their player to a ball, and then earning a free kick to ease the pressure, stood out.

Baines - 8. Sensational all day long. Great defensively and unlike everyone else he didn't hoof it straight back up the pitch, because he knew it would come straight back. His delivery was spot on too but we're gash up front, sadly. Basically though he has more talent than any fullback has the right to possess.

Fellaini - 5. Sloppy in possession and skied a great chance to score. He is still coming back from an injury though.

Arteta - 7. A great pen under immense pressure masked what was a timid performance littered with mistakes. He is also coming back from an injury, however.

Heitinga - 5. Not great at all.

Barkley - 6. Positive throughout and unlucky for the pen. He's only 17 and Formica threw himself over that leg.

Osman - 5. Not much to speak about really. Good enough in possession but no end product.

Anichebe - 6. Silly yellow aside he tried his best in a role he should not have to play. The 'service' was nonexistent for him.

Subs

Cahill - 6. Put himself about and had a few tough decisions against him.

Bily - 4. Useless.

Beckford - 5. Nothing of note but he got 5 minutes. I thought Moyes would cut out this 85th minute sub nonsense by now. Becks has earned the right to get real game time.

Moyes - 4. Weak starting lineup, horrendous tactics, and a mixed bag of subs. He is the boss and if his team are getting everyone back to defend set pieces at 0-0 in the 50th minute, and his team are getting no one forward, and his team are hoofing it back to the opposition constantlly... well then he is to blame, to some degree. He is the manager, and the buck stops with him. He's said as much himself, before Damon jumps in to blame the wind or the lack of a right winger for how we let the utterly woeful Blackburn rovers bum us.

The ref - 11. Cheers for the pen mate.

Good ratings, Jonny needs to play CH next game, how many more jags errors/hoofs can we afford. You can guarentee if Heitinger played like that at CH he would be dropped.

He should use that anger and go and demand some money. Great at intimidating cowering reporters, shit at securing funds from that ball bag chairman.

Less of it you, we've been through this nearly 3,000 times on that Kenwright/Board thread.

"Daylight Robbery" is how I'd describe this. ****e all day and sneak it at the last.

Do I give one? Absolutely not!

haha penalty given for heading the ball!
Sometimes turning the corner comes with an ugly win but let's not disguise the fact that we are still a poor bunch including Moyes.
His team selection was amazing but we were due for some luck against Blackburn and it came big time.
Just perhaps with the return of Arteta and Fellaini in the middle and the exclusion finally of Osman will get things rolling again
Only time will tell but at least we have 3 points.

didnt deserve to lose last week either

We did. We couldn't score and were anything but clinical. QPR were the definition of clinical. QPR were gash but thanks to our own ineptitude, we deserved to lose.

By the same logic today Blackburn didn't deserve to win. They missed 2 pens and couldn't score despite us seemingly wanting them to. But that doesn't mean we deserved anything but defeat. If we were playing a half-decent team we'd have been pummelled 3 or 4 nil.

He's not had the best of starts. I'm not sure he can handle the mantle of being thought of as a regular starter. He's a great lad and all that, and he's got very good ability.
