Boss photos you've taken

Have you tried manually updating by visiting the adobe website. It may have an update there?

Yeah wouldn't work for such an old version for me.

Installed elements, took bout 90 minutes in total, wouldn't open photos due to program error. Deleted elements.

Downloaded Olympus viewer 3 and finally have something to work with. But it was match time, so I guess we'll see how it goes after the match

Alright, just a few shots from today. You'll pick up on the theme quite quickly I imagine.

So I've decided I love shooting in RAW and love the post-production part of it even more, but I just don't have the computer power to make it happen while I'm traveling. I didn't even get to really get into editing these and it took an 75 minutes with the computer freezing at least once a photo.

I'm gonna shoot RAW and JPEG from here on out, upload all to my computer and hold onto the RAW files I think I would like to work with and do that when I get home.

Let me know what you think!

Post here about recommended free raw photo editing stuff. Might be worth trying a few until you get comfortable with it, also as a student money may be more of an issue.

Yeah RAW + Jpeg while on holiday is a great idea especially if you want post from holiday.

Doing RAW + Jpeg is a good idea also as you can compare your cameras effort against your own and it will show how you improve.

Really like the last shot, just crop off the 3 cars on the right and it would be great, especially like the angle it's shot at.

Thought of Bilbo earlier today, was mowing the lawn and found a ladybird on my bin as I went to empty the mower, so grabbed the camera for a few quick shots. Stupidly left the camera in the wife's car so not actually looked at it yet. So it might be crap as I had to shoot it hand held with my macro lens with no stability options but we shall see.

The only problem is I'm not back from this "holiday" of mine until 2015..... Will check out the free software you posted about though and see if any of it runs smoother on my crappy 10" laptop from 2006.

ALSO

If there was any point in time where I was crying out for fisheye//superwide angle lens it was today. Would have been lovely for all the art shots I got.

climbed up to the top of Trastevere in Rome and had a 180 degree view of the entire city.

Might bite the bullet and get one now. Was trying to hold off, but it would be way too handy for me.

Great colourful images. You'll find RAW gives you so much editing abilities that will let you bring out a lot of detail, colour, exposure, everything.

Enjoy.

cheers Bilbo, really appreciate the input and feedback. I really enjoy this and want to keep getting better and better photos. You guys (@Reemul ) were completely right about shooting in RAW, just opens the door for so many possibilities.

Now to just practice the editing.

Here is a woodlouse - it was on the underside of a house brick, I just turned it over and pointed the camera head-wards. Still working in the dark with a torch, I thought afterwards that I could easily have took the brick indoors...

Paul.

Downloaded LightZone, one of the open source software a that @Reemul 'a link suggested. It's perfect. Easy, doesn't overrun my machine and free. Just takes a bit to convert to JPEG with no background option, but I can get over that.

Will have some more graffiti shots to share soon enough.
