Boss photos you've taken

It was really small, quite mobile, and I'd knocked the lens to f/5.6 so lost some depth of field... Just checked the markings on my ruler and it was probably only just about 1.5mm at most!

It might be a Dicyrtoma fusca but I'm unsure at the moment.

Paul.

@KaiserEFC I have a load of ProImage 100, Gold 200 and Portra here. Local lab wants a stupid amount for development fees, cheapest way of developing C41 from your experience?
Try DS Colour Labs. I've used them in the past but I'd imagine with film getting used less and less the prices for developing will be going up and up.

I develop mine myself which works out way cheaper. Take it Easy lab based in Leeds are alright for development but they only do the scans and not prints. SilverPan film lab are quite technical and can do all sorts of weird and wonderful things to your negatives and Digitalabs are fairly expensive and they can’t scan to a super high quality but their prints are great.

In general you’re going to get ripped off these days which is ridiculous considering film is going through a massive revival and there’s more variety of film out there to buy than I can ever remember. The labs are also making an absolute killing and taking on more than they can process. The second something gets that hipster/retro tag then that’s that I guess.

I was laughing at the start of the year when some dude gave me £230 for an old Canon AE-1 that was gathering dust, but I guess I'm the clown for spending so much money getting it all developed. I've been looking at C41 kits online, it looks like a good saving long term.

For now, black and white is more than sufficient. The lighting down here is awful most days.

I’m buying any underpriced film camera I can at the moment for this exact reason.

If you want a decent C41 kit check out Bellini Foto’s one. Relatively new on the market, well priced and just as good as any of the bigger named ones which are always out of stock (no I don’t work for them)

The colour stuff you've posted here looks incredible tone wise, thanks for the heads up on the Bellini Foto developer. I've taken a look at their website and it all looks great, something for payday on Friday.

I've been shooting with old Soviet cameras this year, I bought a Kiev 6C (£120) and a FED-4B (~£9) on eBay and it has helped me want to shoot again. COVID did a real number on my mental, so being able to just go out and shoot without too much thought again is great.

Yeah it’s good developer, mines gone a bit off now so I’ll be reinvesting on Friday too.

Kiev’s are great cameras and you can’t beat a Soviet Leica either. I think photography is the only thing that got me through lockdown if I’m honest
