I'm sure this is the first time I have photographed Chrysotoxum festivum - some call it the the harlequin hoverfly. Got a bonus wasp in the first image.

That's a stunner.
You can certainly see why people often confuse them with wasps.

It wasn't easy getting this, there were 3 wasps buzzing really close by and I had to get low under the shrub as it was on the lower leaves.

A couple from this mornings walk.
I spent about 20 mins trying to get a shot of swallows as they skimmed the surface of the dam.
Unfortunately I didn't have the equipment, patience or skill to achieve that lol but I managed to get a couple of shots of a few as they rested on the wall of the bridge.

I tried but the bartender excused herself and claimed she wasn’t a red fan but the owners were. Which is giving me second thoughts about coming back ?
