It was awfullTo watch non actual boxers get webbed
Oh and the worst anthem ever I fell sick
I could be wrong but didn’t Vitali only have a couple of weeks training before the fight because he was a replacement?Indeed. Vitali was definitely the better brother.
I think Lewis was all but mentally retired when he fought Vitali, but still got the job done. He'd prepared (or not) for a fight with Kirk Johnson and it fell through and then got landed with a proper live opponent.
While Vitali disputed the stoppage, you don't get your face cut up like that by accident and I think after a sluggish start Lewis was looking the likely winner anyway as it went on. I've watched that fight a few times over and Vitali was ahead on points at the time but flagging.
Crowd so high pitched it sounds like one of those England friendlies where half the crowd are school kids
Gun shy and all mouth. With a bad attitude. Earned millions for beating nobody of any real importance.
Once I think he realised he could be hurt he lost confidence and it took away his edge, just my opinionBut there was a period early on where he looked like he had it all…., then, after the vlad fight he dropped off a cliff
A bit of both I think. Neither fighter actually 'prepared' for the opponent. And yes Vitali never really got troubled chin wise or canvas wise.I could be wrong but didn’t Vitali only have a couple of weeks training before the fight because he was a replacement?
He had an unbelievable chin, Vitali, Lewis hit him with some bombs during that fight. In fact I don’t think Vitali touched the canvas in his career. Vitali always wanted a rematch, even when they’ve met years after both retiring you’ll always here Vitali mention his disappointment at never getting to fight Lewis again.
If Vlad had Vitali’s chin he would’ve been unbelievableA bit of both I think. Neither fighter actually 'prepared' for the opponent. And yes Vitali never really got troubled chin wise or canvas wise.
As I said before, Lewis was already 'retired' in his mind, Johnson was supposed to be his last fight, Johnson, who was eminently beatable, pulled out and Vitali stepped in. He wasn't exactly the fella out of the crowd/last minute replacement mind, he was number 1 ranked challenger at the time.

Agreed, I think Wlad was the better technician, but you can't get chinned by Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster and be regarded as a memorable champion. Wlad was grand against smaller, come forward opponents, but lacked that iron in his soul that his brother had.If Vlad had Vitali’s chin he would’ve been unbelievable
He then tried to change his style to make him harder to hit and he’s not got the speed/footwork. Don’t get me wrong he’s still dangerous to anyone and I’d still like to see him fight Fury or Wilder. I still think they’d be good fights.Yeh
Prior to that he was looking great
Vlad will be remembered for his longevity, number of title defences and his straight right was a monster of a punch.Agreed, I think Wlad was the better technician, but you can't get chinned by Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster and be regarded as a memorable champion.
