Boxing

The saddest part for me was watching it and knowing he was nowhere near being anything like the Hatton of old. Walking straight onto punches, no head movement, tired by round 6 and constantly letting him off the ropes when he had him.

I agree with your post in the main but being hard to hit hasn't been Hatton's thing for a long time. His style was suited to a younger man or at least one who looked after his body. I'm amazed he came back thinking he could fight the same way.

Sad way to go out but sadly it's the way so many boxers go out.

how much did he earn for the fight?

About £2m i think.

My views differ from most. I think that he was being incredibly disrespectful to Senchenko, who is a good, solid fighter, though not anything special. For Hatton to come out after 3.5 years of abusing his body, even after the abuse it had took between any fight, is for me, disrespectful of the sport and the opponent. He needed some sharpening fights, one or two, to get his eye back in, to gain that split second of speed of defense/response.

Froch wasn't too enamoured with the whole return either. He said something along the lines of, yes, he may beat Senchenko, but where does he go from there? CAuse he would be destroyed by Khan or Brook. I would have to agree with hi entirely here, at Hattons age, there is no way he could step into the ring with even the best British boxers, never mind world, so, with that in mind, where was he going to go next?

I know a lad who sold his car in order to follow Hatton to Vegas, he was skint for ages, sold his car and quit his job cause they wouldn't give him the time off, and flew to Vegas. Hatton was so gutted about the defeat he used the money from his fight to go on a bender............... How does he get thanked for that? Nice on lad, thanks for that. BTW if you can't afford a ticket for my comeback fight, pay £15 you bum. I think it's disgusting that his comeback fight was PPV, really really annoys me.

I made my thoughts on hattons reaction to the manny thrashing clear earlier in the thread & it certainly helped change my opinion on hatton . However on this fight he took on a guy whose last fight was for a world title I presume because he thought he'd win it . Those advising him I suspect didn't fancy it but from his post fight interview it seems hatton thought he had a chance and the blokes lack of punching power certainly helped his thinking i'd suspect.

As to where he'd go next I'm not sure he was thinking that far ahead he was trying to eradicate p*ss poor preparation for & showing in the manny fight . Hatton was a fighter whose chaotic lifestyle over the last 5 never mind 3 years was always going to tell and it did . Anyone whose a boxing fan and didn't at least see that result as a real possibility was kidding themselves in my opinion . I also think if he's getting in the ring he's entitled to a PPV as its not like he's in the pomp of his career we all knew this was a comeback .

This isn't a fan inspired defence of hatton by the way as I do agree with a bit of your post mate.

Fighting tonight
James DeGale v Fulgencio Zuniga(ch5)
Brian Magee v Mikkel Kessler
Manny Pacquiao v Manuel Marquez.

Chris Eubank Jr has just won by TKO. He looks like he`s gonnna be a decent fighter to me. 9 straight wins now.

Needs to work on his uppercut .. and his lisp.

Decent night of fights so far.

Kessler smashed Magee. Barker smashed Hope. Degale was impressive winning.

Hoping Marquez finally gets the win he deserves against Pacquiao.

UFC is on as well which will get most of my attention as the lightweight scrap in that is going to be awesome.

Yeah.. Paq 1/2 - Marques 2/1
To GO the distance is also 1/2 ??

Well them odds are pretty bang on aren't they??

They have fought 3 times no stoppages in any so you would imagine it will go the distance.

As for the fighters, its currently 2 wins for Manny and a draw but we all know Marquez should have atleast one of them wins if not 2. I think and hope because he deserves it Marquez to get the win this time.

Although if I was betting I would bet Manny by UD because he has had the other when they have been extremely close.

Think Manny will win, but I cant get involved at those prices.. Both could easily stop eachother ?
