That decision probably means I can't be arsed to watch boxing anymore.
Overall that wasn't exactly great entertainment was it and lets face it tony was poor. The bloke was slippery and i might be wrong and it might just be the bald head and beer but i thought he had a touch of the Herol Graham's about him, all upper body movement.
My thoughts last night were chilemba really bossed it after about 5 , you could argue a couple of rounds so any result would probably have been fair maybe leaning towards Chilemba , as an 'overall' fight you couldnt massively argue with the draw. Judging is all about personal perpective and I'm afraid Tony didn't do anywhere enough to make it simple you could argue he got out of jail with the draw.
I watched it live and I've just whizzed , quickly through the tv this morning and it's a classic example of how a commentary can colour the views of those watching and that's not a criticism of anyone but sky by the way. I might be wrong because I haven't sat through it but did they show the punch percentages ? I'd imagine that wouldn't read too well for tony .
By the way I know he's upset but dropping the blokes trainer in it wasnt the classiest thing in the world but given he could see his mandatory shot slipping away you can understand his upset.
The step between being a top domestic/European fighter and world level is clearly a big one , tony needs to accept the result and focus on getting through to a world title shot that he will surely get but that wasnt good enough and I hope he doesn't look back at his career falling just short because I'd love him to do it.
@vaughany08: Z Cars still gets me hyped up!!! #Shivers
good post sheeds sums it up going to watch it again after as wanting on fella to win isnt the best way to give a view a fight, thought bellew didnt force it enough and Chilemba was slippery but didnt do enough going forward to warrant a win , bit of a bore reallyOverall that wasn't exactly great entertainment was it and lets face it tony was poor. Thought a draw was fair but all the best work was done by the other fella. Was landing a lot of clean, heavy shots from rnd 3/4 onwards.
Bellew was awful. Didn't jab all night and dropped his left hand every time he came forward. He'd get knocked out in three against a top fighter boxing like that.
Thought Chilemba didn't take a backward step all night and would have been hard done by to get beat.
Turn the commentary off mate and I think you'll be surprised , knew the bloke would be tough it really was about a 50/50 fight but as much credit we've given tony for changing his style maybe last night was a little too much . Your right It was a bore and in totally honesty you can see where the draw decision fits overall if not necessarily in the rounds .
By the way jim watts scoring is at best horrific I remember him scoring either tightly or in favour of valuev in the haye fight whilst the entire world (insude and outside of boxing ) were completely the other way .
