Boxing

That's out of order that, you clearly don't know Bellew at all.

He's a good bloke. Yeah he does all the trash talking but you have to do that these days to get the press and publicity. Look at how Sky have been getting behind him, headline act, in all the adverts, he's a big star now. The squeaky wheel gets all the grease.

As for a person, as I said, he's a really nice bloke and a top Blue. Goes as many games as he can, home and away. Met him several times, usually at aways. He's no bully or scally. When there were riots in August 2011, he was one of the few celebs who came on the radio, appealing for calm.

Funny how he's talking about class when he's the one belittling a guy he doesn't know because of his background. Lads like Bellew make up a massive part of our support.

Not because of his background at all!
Because he headbutts his opponent between rounds, talks sh*te before & after the fight, belittles his opponent AFTER the fight etc etc. It's my choice to support fighters who have a bit of respect for the sport and for their opponent.
I know you have to man up at fight time but there's no need to act like a thug. Just because he's local and a Blue, doesn't make it OK!
He thinks he's twice the fighter he really is, this is his major problem along with having no power for the division.
I started off supporting him last night, by the end I wanted him to get sparked.

A boxer trash talking ? What is the world coming to.

Doesn't make him a thug, or a scally.

I understand liking/disliking people for their behaviour in the ring or press conferences, but to call someone a lowlife thug based on the couple of hours you see when he's preparing to be in a ring with another man who's trying to knock his head off is a bit poor.

We can all only go on what we've seen, and that's what I've seen of him.
That's my opinion so far.

In his defence mate this is how you have to be to box. If you go into a fight thinking 'this guy is a lot better than me' the chances are you're going to lose. Many boxers have this confidence (or at least give the impression of this confidence).
Having been around Bellew on numerous occasions when the conversation has turned to boxing, I can honestly say it's not an act with him. Even before he turned pro he was naming the boxers he was better than and would beat, and this was just to his mates.

Big headed yes, but what is needed also if you ask me.

You clearly missed the bit where Bellew had his arm around Chilemba after the fight, saying how good a fighter Chilemba was. Clearly you're turned off by Bellew's trash-talking, but as Brennan said, what fighter doesn't do that these days? A very rare breed. It's just standard fun and games, Chilemba and his trainer turned up to the weigh ins wearing Liverpool gear as a wind up. Some might say that was very petty. Yeah, Bellew did lean in with his head (which was wrong), only after Chilemba had taunted him after the bell though. Chilemba did that throughout the fight, at the end of every round, trying to faze Bellew rather than go straight to his corner. Some might say that was classless on Chilemba's part too.

Oh yes, I totally agree mate.
You have to be a bit brash and even egotistical if you're going into the ring, or you're going to get your head knocked off your shoulders.
Bellew just seems 'orrible' to me though. I've lived in liverpool all my life and I know the difference between scallies and scousers.
It's just my opinion. If I'm proved wrong, tbh I'll be made up as I really want to support all Blues everywhere.
No need for everyone to get all defensive here at all. I dislike a boxer that you like, no big deal.

'orrible yeah, but a scallie not so much. Before he turned pro the lad was a chartered accountant and he's definitely got his head screwed on.

Make of it what you will to be honest, as a person I'm not his biggest fan in truth.
