Boxing

Frochs having to apologise for saying he will kill Kessler for victory Saturday night, watching the behind the ropes episode Kessler comes across as a decent bloke.

Good boxing programme being shown on sky this week "the gloves are off" with Johnny Nelson sat round a table with Eubanks, Collins, Jones jr, Calzaghe and Woodhall, a great watch with some interesting debate.

Hope Froch gets KO'd.

No need for those comments, went beyond hyping up a fight.

My thoughts exactly, Kessler has gone about the build up in a much more classy manner, I've gone for Kessler on points at 4/1, just don't see how people can say Froch is in the the best form of his career when since being beaten by Ward he has only beaten someone who never fought outside of Canada and a hugely overmatched Mack.

I think he's just letting people know how desperate he is to win.

Froch & Kessler are quite good mates out the ring.

I don't doubt it. MMA fighters are even worse, call each other for all kinds then hug and say they have the upmost respect for the opponent afterwards. It's phoney and uncalled for. I understand why they do it, I just don't like it.

There are better ways of going about that than coming out with tripe like your going to smash his face in and kill him if he has to, and that he is cheeky coming to England to fight him, they might not be such good mates once Kessler sees them statements, Froch should be grateful Kessler has come to England when in truth he didn't have to.

I agree. It takes something away from the sport IMO. Just I don't think it should be taken as literally as it looks.

Gennady Golovkin, wow, that was some performance from him last night, quite possibly the most avoided boxer on the planet right now and on last nights display you can see why.

I'd like to see him in against Martinez, who is ageing but would still give him his best challenge at middleweight, i'm not sure Martinez would be too keen though.

Good win for Crolla against Rees too.

God I like body blow KOs. Golovkin doesn't even look like he throws hard either. He's 31 so hopefully he doesn't age fast like Pac-Man (granted unlike Manny, Golovkin has barely been hit in his career). If the fight can be made a year or two down the road a Ward-Golovkin matchup would be 1st No.1 vs. No.2 P4P in a long long time. The only question about him is if he could take a punch. He's already no lower than No.5 on my P4P list.

Martinez in his prime around age 35 might have a shot against him but even at that age Martinez one glaring weakness has been that he gets hit a bunch. Not really a good matchup style-wise for Sergio.

That was a lovely shot by Golovkin on Macklin. The was talk of putting Cesar Chavez jr in with him once his drug ban is up. I'd prefer to see Golovkin in against Martinez myself. Some fights coming up soon that I'm intrested in. Bradley vs Marquez, Manny vs Rios, Mayweather vs Alvarez, Bj Saunders vs John Ryder and the rematch between Price and Thompson. Good few month of Boxing in place.

Wasn't sure whether to put this up but......here is my fight from the end of May. I am in the blue.....as I said in another post, I am 44 and this was my first time in a ring, white collar fight in Blackpool.

Really enjoyed the experience, think a draw would have been fair, don't think I lost in all honesty, although he did win the 3rd round.

Let me know your thoughts :)

Takes a fair bit of effort to do it at 44. I know you'd have preffered to win, but the fact you did it is to be commended mate.

It was a brilliant shot, interesting to hear Macklin comment afterward how every punch that was landing packed power and were hurting him. You can never be sure if he will carry the same power up in weight, for that reason i'd like to see him fight another couple at middleweight.

I don't think Martinez would fancy it but it might still make the best fight for him financially right now, although he has aged badly, Golovkin doing a number on him, or even Chavez Jr would increase his popularity even more, then he could go up to fight the likes of Ward, or even Froch who Eddie Ahearn mentioned as a possible opponent for Golovkin.
