Boxing

Not really

The biggest boxing matches have been that way because of promo's

Mayweather is living proof of that

The boxing 24/7 series before big fights isn't the two guys trash talking, it's getting an insight into their training techniques and psyche.

This is the last time I will mention UFC in here, but what I will say is that I think UFC has a much stronger business model and the reason why I think that is because UFC is run by people who were involved in boxing or were fans of boxing and they are determined to not make the same mistakes as boxing

There's a reason that Cain Vs Dos Santos III will be a bigger draw than Vladamir or Vitali Vs any of their challengers

On that I completely agree with you.

You have probably just picked the weakest weight division in boxing there, would that fight be a bigger draw than the Mayweather-Alvarez fight, a potential Ward-Golovkin fight, even a Pacquiao-Rios fight, simple answer, no it wouldn't.

Is there a thread for UFC on here?

I'm a fan of both but I find the UFC has a much better business model, the best fight the best no politics involved.

But it's funny how pure boxing fans get so defensive about MMA.

Never could get into it to be honest mate, each to their own, delighted ye have a thread to discuss all aspects of it now, result, haha.

There is now!

I was doing a direct comparison between the Boxing Heavyweights and the UFC Heavyweights

Oh right, its one of, if not the weakest weight division in boxing at the minute but a fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin will still have a huge draw, and generate millions in the process.

Problem with Klitschko is that I just can't see him drawing in the USA

I say give Haye another fight (Despite his petulance)

That could be good business (In Europe at least)

He will make just as much, if not more by fighting Povetkin. I don't think either can be ar$ed giving Haye another chance, he had it and lost because his little toe was sore.

If Haye wants another shot he has to actually fight and beat people and work himself into a mandatory position.

There's no doubt that 'trash talking' draws in people that otherwise wouldn't pay 15 quid to watch a card. For most genuine boxing & UFC fans they couldn't care less or will dislike it.

I dislike it in both sports. Men die in boxing and serious injuries happen in MMA. It takes courage and a hell of a lot of training to get in the ring/octagon and the man you fight should know all about that and respect it.

Long term this type of crap will do both sports harm as people will see them as savage sports and outdated as the world becomes more sanitized and sensitive.

I'm interested in their character, training methods and what they can do when it matters, not hearing one call the other fella a bellend.

The only real advantage the UFC has over boxing is the relative lack of politics and the lack of shady promoters, network execs and managers ruining the sport for personal gain.

If it carries on growing these sharks will find a way to take something out of it for themselves.
