Boxing

Agree with what your saying but it's not the first time he's called off a fight. He definitely should have been wearing a head guard at such a late stage in his preparations. It's a propper sh!tter for the poor folk who have booked hotels etc.

I'd be suprised if he wasnt wearing a headguard, will have to just wait and see if that gets confirmed, its a terrible shame for the fans more than anything else, the fighters have been through a tough camp and will be so focused on the fight to have it not there anymore will be horrible. If it was a back injury (the usual go to for a kop out), I'd be calling foul, but a cut like that, if he was wearing a headguard, is just something that can happen. Its leaves Haye out the game for a long time now, so I cant see anything suspect in it, at worst a case of neglect, and just so frustrating for all of us. How about Fury vs Wilder?

yes, wasn't much to go on he destroyed him inside a round. a super middleweight with the body and strength of a light heavy.

the super middleweight scene in britain is getting interesting.
He was a durable kid he was up against, so its a good sign, but yeah we need to see him go some rounds first, still, could be a top prospect. I remember him as a welter in the amatuers, looking decent, but not anything special really, then the last tournament before the olympics he got moved all the way up to light heavy and he looked great, and was so unlucky not to qualify, now as a pro he looks to have gone up another level again, definately one to watch

a headguard and 16 oz gloves is very unlucky unless it was an accidental clash of heads (with no headguard on).

Same thing happened to the Ken Shamrock/Kimbo Slice fight a few years back. That actually happened on the day of the show though. Shamrock got cut while sparring on the day of the fight

Haye clearly is a fool to have got himself cut so close to a big fight

He's hurting his own wallet at the end of the day
Had to change his headboard.

Just read about the fight... absolutely gutted. Fury seems absolutely aghast at it and rightly so. After all that build up, fans paying hundreds on tickets, travel, hotels, he calls it off for a very, very unbelievable tale. What sort of professional boxer allows that to happen a week before a massive fight? Lost a lot of respect for Haye now. Ffs.

Fight re scheduled for Feb, should add even more needle to it, I doubt we will ever find out if Haye had his headguard on. What I will say is there's nothing unbelievable about what has happened, headguard or not it can and has happened before, you dont have to get caught clean to get a bad cut, in fact the opposite is often true, glancing blows, a lace, elbows, it can happen

Just saw the Chavez Jr-Vera fight. Vera robbed, I had the fight even but Chavez winning on one scorecards 8-2 and 7-3 were absolutely ridiculous (i could see a 6-4 Chavez but the 5-5 I gave him was kind of generous). Chavez Jr., came in the fight 13 Ilbs overweight, had a 20lb advantage and was outworked and outhit by someone 20lbs lighter. What a fraud. Even Mexicans don't like him all that much anymore.

I love boxing, but between the corrupt judges (granted they don't take money from Top Rank/Golden Boy they just know that they won't get another job if they fail to give the promoters the score they want) and the sham testing policy boxing just loves to burn their sport alive.

I've got a few good months coming up, which shall include the Froch - Groves fight and seats at Tyson: Undisputed Truth in Manchester.

Froch - Groves is gonna be boss. Derby day, 12:45 at Goodison, then on the train to Manchester for the fight in the evening.

How much where the Tyson tickets mate, casual observer regarding boxing myself but find Tyson quite amazing tbh. I'm more or less the same age as he was when he was world champion and it's incredible to think just how powerful he was.

£50 each, but they've well gone now. not sure they lasted more than a few minutes. Considering Froch - Groves sold out in 11 minutes in a bigger arena. Pretty much went entirely on O2 pre-sale AFAIK.

Great thing with Tyson was how much power came from his legs. His uppercuts were a thing of beauty, just astonishing power. Then he had the proper killer instinct, he'd knock fellas down and prowl till they got back up, then essentially run at them across the ring.

chavez jr is the cash cow unfortunately mate, hopefully he fights ward and gets his head boxed off

Also after Stevenson's win against Cloud, thats Tony Bellew confirmed for his world title challenge in Canada, cant really see him beating Stevenson in all honesty, he's going to have to be at his very best, he's got a chance though, but a slim one
