Stevie Nicks Bootleg
Player Valuation: £8m
Maybe Hughes never even made the subs bench (so was never on any team sheets)? That could have been it.

About 5 weeks before the cup final we beat them 6-2 at their place .
Thought we bear them 6-2 at our place and 3-1 at their place that season mate but it was a long time ago and I was only 8. Just another example of the Catts team bottling it at crucial times. Almost blew it in 66 as well.About 5 weeks before the cup final we beat them 6-2 at their place .
I think Stiles played Vs Czechoslovakia and Stepney was the 3rd, and unused, keeper.Great fact (#2). I don't think Stiles played and the 3rd keeper (Shilton or Stepney) didn't play.
Or did Paulo Cesar play in the final. Not sure. What a team Brazil were though. One of my favourite teams ever. The team of the century. Can still name most of them to this day.
Felix
Clodoaldo
Paulo Cesar
Carlos Alberto
Gerson
Tostao
Rivalinho
Jazinho
And the greatest of them all
Pele.
Who were the other 2?

2-1 at Goodison , Ball got 4 at the Hawthorns .Thought we bear them 6-2 at our place and 3-1 at their place that season mate but it was a long time ago and I was only 8. Just another example of the Catts team bottling it at crucial times. Almost blew it in 66 as well.
well still do one you knight dressing cafe attacking shithouses.
There was a documentary on them on ITV last week, worth a watch. Good to see a few of them still with us (including the manager- Mario Zagalo)What a team Brazil were though. One of my favourite teams ever. The team of the century. Can still name most of them to this day.
You're right, Gerson missed the game but that allowed Rivelino the chance to play centre midfield instead of on the wing and he was man of the match by a mile. It's definitely the most dramatic game...and particularly crazy that a game that good was nearly settled by the toss of a coin.
Re: Brazil/England. Watching the game for the 1st time years later, for me England lacked a 'Gerson' in midfield. A lot of intelligent midfield players, but lacking in those long, jewelled passes that were ideal for quick, effective counter-attacks in that heat. Gerson didn't play vs England either- and it shows.
Likewise, pretty much all the way back up the M1 and M6, the eight your old me wedged/jammed between my Uncle and Grandad in the back of the car!Jeff Astle's glaring left footed miss , didn't miss against us in '68 did he , cried my eyes out that day .
