btw, i don't know much about the law, but does she get prosecuted at all for having underage sex? surely both should get done in instances like this, unless it's rape of course? i understand she's obviously too young to go to jail etc.

So she hasn't done anything wrong cos he consented.
It's because it's dead easy to get a 7 year old to agree to have sex with you. Just go 'do you want to do soemthing fun? How about we have sex? Want to do that?"
And they don't know what they're agreeing to. So the law is that under 16s olds can't give consent, they aren't smart ernough to know what it means. So he's had sex without his partner's consent, legally.

In a lot of states there is an age gap provision for just this kind of case. Being within the age gap doesn't always get you completely off the hook, but can lessen what you're charged with and the resulting penalties.

It's still illegal but if you're under 18 it's a lesser crime. Over 18 and that's when they throw the book at you.
TBF it's only the under 12s that they deem as rape every time. With 13-15s it's more likely to just be a caution even if you're over 18, 2 years on sex offenders list at worst if there's consent and you're only 19 or so.
Honestly everything goes out of the window when it's a celeb but they normally don't care too much about this sort of thing unless it's a teacher or something.
