When you see the massive apparent upgrade in fitness and effort from the second half of last season, it really makes clear how much Carlo was phoning it in as our manager.

And, yet, when people were saying that our fitness levels were appalling there were absolutely loads of excuses made for Ancelotti.

Absolutely immense away performance, Brighton being turbo gash aside, team well drilled, look dangerous on the counter. Allan/Doucoure solid, Seamus rolling back the years he set the tempo in that first half hour and probably shaded Allan for my MOTM. Keane and Holgate didn't make any rash decisions and did the simple things well.


Reading this forum beforehand, you would swear we couldn't win a game without Mina, Gbamin and that Colombian lad who probably didn't know who we were playing. Just general moaning from alot of posters. Excellent start to the season again. Time to get players fit, time to add a few and time to get a few players in.

We are looking decent... we haven't played anyone worthy of note yet, but at least they look like they're competing and there's a game plan there. Last year it was like defend 90% of the time and then get the ball to Richy or James and make something happen.

He was great today, but he can't do it every week, which is why we need a right-back and have done for 2-3 seasons.

Brighton look a bit of a Martinez season 2 & 3 team. Keep and move the ball well, but no killer instinct and suspect at the back.

They look like they gave up after 30 mins, they couldn't handle the press.

Of our attacking players, Gray was fantastic again. Doucoure looks like he's enjoying his more advanced role so far.

The squad is looking thread bare we couldn't even name the full quota of subs today. Hopefully we will add a bit of quality in the next couple of days.

Credit where credit is due. The team are working very hard for each other and probably deserved to be on 9 points from first 3 games going by quality of chances created.

Next few days in the transfer market could determine our season. Need at least 3 quality players in, including right back, assuming both Kean and James leave as expected.

Really happy with what I have seen so far. It seems that the players Rafael spent the most time with, have improved massively.

hopefully some of our internationals don’t go away whether it’s because of knocks (DCL) or COVID rules (Richy) and Rafael can have some more time with the entire squad to get his ideas across and we build on a good start.

My only slight concern is that I did think our start was quite kind to us fixture wise so not quite in the mood to get carried away just yet like last year!
