Bryan Oviedo

Slightly off topic but Martinez may have ,imo, form for giving players 'diplomatic injuries' when dropping or 'resting' or just plain excluding them coz they p*ssed him off, Distin, Osman, Garbutt, Baines, Oviedo and his screws...until he needs them that is
just a feeling I get.

I don't think we played down the left enough last night, but he was always keen to move the ball forward rather than sideways. Simple effective football.

There were some many times when Oviedo made the overlapping run but Barkley was oblivious to it. Granted he shouldn't be playing on the left, but it's situations like that that we miss Pienaar and Osman (don't shoot me) because they're aware of the the runs their fullbacks make.

I wasn't the slightest bit suprised that our goal came from getting Oviedo in a decent position to cross.

Barkley had a shocker last night. He's great with the ball at his feet, but off it he just looks like a big dope.

Id rather have Distin or Barry at left back than Oviedo

i think Mikey has lost the plot on this one.

Think we should sell him myself. He's embarrassingly bad and has stupid hair.

ive seen him in a few games, and hes not the answer. when you are use to watching Baines down the left and then u see Oviedo, im sure most blues will think the same.

We should play Hibbert left back before Oviedo.

Oh dear

For a while there, only me and @orchard were fighting his corner

He was magic last season until the injury and although he is not yet match fit he gives the team much better balance as he has pace, can centre and, this is major for EFC, he takes a good corner. He also has a strong shot on him.

Miralles on the other flank and Barkley at 10. And mcGready as back-up.

I hope RM can persuade Oviedo to stay.

He didn't have a shocker. In fact some of his runs were top drawer. But you're right over his off the ball stuff. He rarely moves into a good position to receive the ball from a colleague under pressure. He has no or little awareness of the opposition's movement around him. He 'chases' players in a very half-hearted way. And as for his tackling.......

Find he nearest bin and place yourself in it.
He's looked decent when I've seen him. We just have a very strong squad now and there's not enough room for every player to be on the bench. In the rare circumstance baines gets injured we have distin who can play there with 2 centre backs on the bench to cover, or Barry can play there like the other day..
I actually don't disagree, it's just Mikey seems to be getting awfully narked by this.

Grade A vaulting. Bravo
Not really.

Agree with all that. Off the ball he could learn a lot from Naismith.
