They were saying on BBC news that out of the fifty-one companies that Dale has been associated with throughout his career, forty-three have been liquidated.

That’s 84%! What’s worse, they claim that the EFL didn’t even put him through the correct due diligence, so the ‘fit and proper test, wasn’t there.

He's an asset stripper insolvency practictioner, that's what he does.

It's exactly like the parable of the frog and the scorpion. I quite agree that the rules need to change to protect clubs from greedy scum like him and delusional chancers like the previous guy but at the moment all the penalties fall on the football side so there's really (shame aside, of which he clearly has none) no downside to it for them.

I wonder if this could open the EFL up to a lawsuit from Bury supporters?

Not a hope. The EFL have applied the rules. Dale had no criminal convictions and so passed the Fit and Proper test. He failed to show that he could fund the club through the season and, thus, the club were docked points and later thrown out of the league.

The rules ain't right, but they are the rules.

He bought the club for a pound but won't sell. If he is owed any money he has given it up by running the club down to this point. When he saved it last time he should have ensured the books were sorted and they could stand on their own two feet so it was something of value afterwards.

Very sad that people like him exist in this world.

Yes very.... But we'd all do it Liverpool if we could. This guy didn't even know about the club though, don't think he even knew much about footy.

It's very sad, I saw how close Swansea were to this kind of situation and they bounced back brilliantly. Afc Wimbledon have shown just how a dead club can come back to life, albeit different circumstances, wonder if this will now happen to a new bury.

I don't think that Dale bloke realises how many enemies he has made and then he opens his mouth and makes it 10 times worse. Let's hope he doesn't see a penny back and Bury can start to climb the ladder again.

Too late... He mortgaged the clubs remaining assets for 3.7 mil via a shell company who's sole director is his daughter's boyfriend. I imagine that's just the tip of it, given he'll be flogging the stadium to developers as we speak.

Land is only worth what someone will pay for it. If the supporters and whole town protest hard enough to stop supermarkets/developers from buying in then maybe they a fan funded scheme can buy it back on the cheap.

You get that there has to be some legal element to dispute something in courts, yes? How exactly would Bury supporters being dragging the EFL into court?

If the fit and proper test wasn't done, which has been suggested, then the EFL didn't do it's due diligence on Dale and thus that could potentially mean they didn't follow their legal responsibilities to the member club (Bury)

It was done. He failed to provide proof of funds. The penalty for which is a points deduction. That was applied. The next level is suspension of matches. That was applied. The ultimate sanction was expulsion from the league. That was also applied.
