Can Bury do what Rangers did and re-enter via the lower leagues? Obviously there is no financial parity between the 2 situations, but surely the club doesn't have to die, just re-enter at the bottom?
Theres nothing to stop them entering a league further down the pyramid,a few clubs have managed it,starting as a new team, think the problem will be finding a new place to play

My mate who's a Bury fan has sent me this. Apparently a last minute bid to save them was declined by the EFL.

Bury Fc have had 1000s of messages of support. We need your help more than ever.

The EFL need to consider the SJ Global bid. The initial offer was in before the deadline, the money is transferred as promised, and this does not need to go to court. The EFL messed up and did not explore all avenues and incorrectly thought the bid had been withdrawn.

Please sign this petition and contact your own club and supporters association and ask them to provide messages of support for Bury FC and pressure the EFL.

If anyone could take the time to sign it would be appreciated. Also if any of the mods @Groucho @roydo could sticky this or make it more prominent that would be great.

Will of course sign it

What an absolute ship show by the EFL if this is true

Yes, it all looks very legit...

SJ Global. An international finance company with offices in London, Dubai and, er, Norwich. Now look at their HQ address on Google Maps and you will see a whole row of 'office space to let' above an estate agent and a private health care business on a random East Anglian street.

They, apparently, have office 301, which is shared with a number of other companies, some of which are connected with the directors of SJ Global.

Sounds about as sound as Grant Shapps and if he can become Transport Minister then I suppose anything is possible.

Maybe I'm just a cynic, but why would a "credible new bidder" ignore the club during the entire theatre that has lasted over the previous months and years and leave it until or after the repeatedly-postponed last minute to make their move by agreeing a deal with the thoroughly reputable current owner (who of course has not got any form about creative finance arrangements with companies that may or may not be run by people not entirely unconnected to him).

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. "Offices in London and Dubai" are a pound to a penny, one room most likely or even a PO Box thing. In my previous life I dealt with several individuals who had a "Global presence". In reality, they actually didnt.

Because desperate people do desperate things and as the deadline grew closer and the pressure became more intense from supporters, Dale / the Administrators may have relented in some of their demands from potential suitors, or they may have been willing to be more flexible than they were earlier in the window.

The potential suitor will have declared interest long ago but probably won’t have firmed that interest up with a concrete offer until the end of the deadline, when costs are generally lower, flexibility is at it’s maximum and everything is negotiable - so they can get the very best deal.

not sure you can blame the EFL on this one

Bury have already had 5 league matches postponed (would be 6 this weekend) plus the carabao cup match against sheffield wednesday as well and have been given numerous extensions to the deadlines to sort out their mess

if the EFL removed the expulsion then they would have to somehow find a way to get bury to play those 6 postponed fixtures before the end of the league 1 season finishes which is already a hectic schedule in its own right

I feel for Bury, including the hundreds of small businesses and the thousands of fans that rely on the town having a football club. What has happened is tragic. I wasn’t old enough to remember what happened to Accrington Stanley but (whether because of a famous TV advert or not) I don’t think there’s one single football fan in Britain that hasn’t got a soft spot for them. And they finally have an owner, Andy Holt, who is passionate about what the purpose of the club is and realistic about what constitutes a sustainable business model. It’s not easy at all for Accrington and I think Paul Squires of the guardian has it right when he suggested the pyre has just started under the entire league pyramid. The EFL ‘saved’ Bolton but it won’t be long before the next few cases like bury and Bolton come along. When the dust settles on this sorry state I hope Bury FC reforms and without any affiliation to them whatsoever I will be made up for their fans and their town when the club returns to the league.
