To be fair, if we dont sign him, then Everton are to blame for not filling a position that needed to be filled. We knew the deadline was 11pm friday all summer, so it shouldnt have come down to this.

Im pretty confident nzonzi was the 'target' but when he chose stoke we had to move to plan b and that was this lad and it was further complicated by Fulham's interest . We had to move quickly and if it comes off we've done well but if not I'm not sure how much finger pointing is deserved.

pretty much that Sheeds, N'Zonzi and Essien were the targets, they decided late not to come so quick move to plan b. no fault to blame IMO

Cant understand why N'Zonzi would choose stoke over us? there's already about 8 centre mid players there and if he had taken his eyes off the extra money that was obviously offered to him at Stoke then he'd have seen that he'd only have to fend off Neville for a place in midfield, whats wrong with these people? they are absolutely blessed to be in the position they are as footballers yet even though its a very short career he has made the massive decision of trying to get his head on the end of throw ins for the next 4 years instead of coming here where if he stepped up could have been a big player for us playing week in week out,all for a few extra quid, well I hope it was worth it for him

More £££..that's why he chose stoke.

Didn't Villa offer Fulham a better deal for Dempsey, he quickly told them to get f*cked and rightly so, no sympathy for him if he just went along with wherever he was sold to, as I said its him who has to play there...............it'll work out for the better for us anyhow so long as FIFA dont screw us over

People forget, but Heitinga had a couple of blinders in midfield in his first year for us. Away to Villa being the one that most sticks in the mind. He reminded me of Tommy Gravesen that day. If I remember correctly we were cruising at 2-0 up when Johnny went off injured. Finished up 2-2 like it always ****ing did against Villa for a few years.

He's also had a few howlers there since - so it doesn't seem he's able to do it consistently - but he's not as bad in midfield as people make out.

I would prefer him in midfield than Neville.. he also has a great shot on him..

He went off injured cos he sht out of a tackle with agbonlahor though. In midfield he turns his back too often when making challenges, whereas at the back he looks more confident in his tackling. I'd rather not see him anywhere near the midfield to be honest.
