I wish we'd signed a player ready for the first team. This and the Swiss player: good moves but we need something for the rest of the season.

Dont think its £7k, but the new contract he was offered by Leeds was apparently £12k a week which was either the same or less than what he was on anyway.

It's around £7k mate (plus the usual extras). They offered him below what he/his agent asked for, and then around the second offer was actually less than their initial one.

Dad's mate is well connected at the club mate (his own father was Les Cocker - assistant manager in the 1966 World Cup squad and I think he was then assistant manager during the Revie days at Leeds).

Byram is on £7k per-week (plus the usual bonuses) but Celino was refusing to offer him a deal that would double his wages, which is what Byram wanted to sign an extension.

Fair enough. I heard he was on quite a bit more than that. Just less than double in fact.

Either way wages shouldn't be an issue.

To be fair Dave, if Byram signs (which is still a big IF until it's all official and he's holding a scarf in the Park End), then I think we could well see him in the first team pretty much straight away.

He might do. But when Coleman returns he's no use to us.

Fair enough mate.

As I said, my dad's friend is well connected at Leeds, but that's no guarantee that it's right - though £7k p/w does sound about right considering he signed his last contract in 2013 when he was only 19... perhaps it's gone up as it's gone on
