People stating that alcohol and tobacco causes more deaths and more problems, id this not an argument for the illegalisation of them drugs too?

Also, weed does not CAUSE these mental issues, per se, but it can wake up dormant issues. Issues which could easily have stayed dormant, so in effect, they are the cause of people having mental issues.

It is the crap they put in the weed that is the problem, sprayed with glass shards (i think) and the latest was traces of heroin, helps dry it out and keep the smoker hooked, a couple of my mates have also gone a little weird in the head since they started smoking it again, one of which had to go for a walk at 2:30am a couple of nights ago because his head was 'gone'.

Legalise and Tax it, you are fighting a losing battle to ban it so legalise it and regulate it for me.

That feckin' sprayed "grit weed" seems to have disappeared recently, which is good.

Heroin being added to it is one of those myths that does the rounds now and again. Heroin is too expensive to bother with doing something like that. There was that absolute nonsense scaremongering article in the Echo a while back.

are you under the influence of purple sensi when typing this :D

The key point being what it can do to some people, not all.

My circle of friends have been smoking skunk since about 97/98 when it was first becoming popular in the UK and nearly 20 years later everyone is mentally stable with good jobs/families. I've smoked skunk every day since then as well and the only negative aspect it's had on my life thus far is my short term memory and obviously my lungs could be in better shapeneven though I feel perfectly healthy.

It effects different people in different ways.

Thats like saying I've been smoking tobacco every day for 20 years and I haven't got lung cancer (or any other smoking related disease) therefore it hasn't done me any harm.

It could have done you harm. The damage is insidious. You don't know if you are just about to develop a recognisable problem in the same way as a tobacco smoker doesn't know if they are just about to develop a smoking related physical disease.

"It effects different people in different ways"

I do however agree with this up to a point. For example, one person have a weakness that means they are prone to anxiety. Smoking skunk for a few days may result in a problem for this person. Someone else might be emotionally very strong and not prone to anxiety. This doesn't mean that they are immortal though. It just means that their breaking point is a long way away. They might have to do bongs every day for 50 years but they could start to suffer from anxiety eventually.

Right, apart from i didn't say it hadn't done me any harm. I said its made by short term memory worse and my lungs are probably not in as good a condition as they should be... although i feel just as fit as i was when i was 18.

There's lots of things one does in life which could do me harm in the future, maybe i've eaten too much red meat in my lifetime and will be more prone to a heart attack ? who knows.

Indeed, but then that can be applied to countless things. It's a risk people are happy to take. Id never try and claim there is no risk involved.

Maybe so but I'm not going to stop doing something i enjoy on the off chance that i might develop anxiety or whatever later on in life, 20 years in and so far so good. If i end up some paranoid mentalist in another 20 years then so be it, i've made my choices.

Cannabis smokers are just in denial really.

Denial of what?

I don't think it's particularly good for me, but I've smoked it for 24 years with no real ill effects other than getting addicted to nicotine, which I've now kicked.

The point is, there are plenty of worse things I could do, some of which are legal, and I don't think it's right that I'm criminalised for what's a relatively benign pastime.

It makes you aggressive and argumentative.

Good point :)

Yep all fair enough.

I Fckin love it.

I couldn't care less about the laws or other peoples opinions on it but it would be nice to think that 'normal' people could have a smoke without fear of being persecuted by the authorities, unfortunately I can't see that happening anytime soon.
