Captain, next season

Lukaku's insinuation that Martinez lost the dressing room makes me question Jagielka's suitability. I can't imagine the 80's team not playing with heart and passion regardless of their views on HK, because they'd have Ratcliffe to answer to. Coleman has appeared to thrive on the responsibility and seems to be very well respected by players and management alike. Hence he would be my pick for the new era.

Give it to Seamus. He'll be our first back for another 4/5 years anyway. Captains his country now, been at Everton ages, brilliant role model, more vocal than most of the players in the team, not afraid to get into a scrap, will defend his players, fans love him. He's the outstanding candidate for me.

Jags will be club captain but he won't start for us next season IMO so we'll have a team captain. Likely Baines or Coleman.

Doesn't deserve to be any form of captain tbh. Whenever the going got tough, he disappeared. The whole squad stopped playing and he did nothing to stop it. Don't think he's that well respected by the squad. They probably know he's had his day.

Whilst true I think there'd be a negative backlash from some of the players if he was stripped completely. Club captains have a nothing role anyway, it's more token than anything else. Martin Stranzl at Gladbach was club captain but never, ever played last couple of years. It has no impact on the team so I'm okay with it.

Yeah I hear you. That makes perfect sense. Jagielka will still be around for the next 2/3 years easy. Mori and Stones (if he stays - hopefully) will be our starting centre backs next season, and deservedly so. Jagielka can still have an influence from the bench and around the training ground. Coleman, for me, is the perfect candidate to be the team captain on the field. Brilliant reward for his hard work. I think he'll stay with us for the rest of his career.
