My car insurance quote has just come through up £70 - rang around - blaming it on Government tax hike of 9% and the withdrawal of the long term injured in a car crash serious accidents care the government used to pay 2.5 % now the government are reducing the help to 0.7 percent to the long term injured in car accidents - just a warning got a shock telephone around got a £40 reduction for a similar cover, but I Googled it and what they told me was true!
so ring around it is a big hike!
be warned Gideons leaving present!

serves you right for driving a maserati convertible with tractor wheels.

When I got my renewal quote off O2 Drive last month it had gone from £650 to over £1,100. I asked why and got the same response you did.

Changed insurer and I'm now paying slightly less than the year before for the first time in years.

Wait so it's not based on car, but instead on age and gender?

I work in insurance, most complaints around price are "well its only a (Insert crap car), you would think I'm driving a Porsche/lambo/Maserati for that price"

in layman's logic that makes sense, better car pay more, however when you factor in

which driver would generally take more care? the one driving a 1994 Austin metro, or a 2017 100k Supercar

also, a lot of your price is based on third party damage, ie, if you permanently disable someone in your car, we are paying millions, whether we have to pay an extra £250 for your Astra, or £30k for your BMW, that's a drop in the ocean compared to the millions in compensation to be paid

Assumed it's because of that, but there's also euro/emission standards and age of cars that usually makes a bit of a price difference (here, at least; also work in insurance, but I'm in property, not auto, so I'm not 100% on it like).

Why the different gender though? Guys more likely to get in fatal incidents than gals is what my brain tells me... lol

Here it's a base, and then depending on make/age of car, emissions, etc. it costs more or less, depending.

well technically there was a law brought in a few years ago making it illegal to gender stereotype

but the thinking originally was "boy racers" with a death wish, although ive seen just as many women nearly cause really bad crashes as I have men....and don't get me started on OAP's! they will never be in a crash, but everyone around them will! and they will have caused it
