caravans

Like many, we haven't been on hols for years and as we have two dogs who are sihtbags, kennels is out of the question. Mrs S has suggested getting a caravan. Towing is no problem, (I have a class 1HGV and a car more than capable of towing) storing it is no issue, and we camped/stayed I'm my truck when I raced so we know what we are getting into there, but I know nothing about caravans. We may look to spend 5-10k, will that get something big enough and good enough? What to avoid/look for?
What did you race?

Also dangerous seen the odd one jacknifed as the caravan far to big for the car that was pulling it .....
Also reversing it's hard to learn as you have to turn the steering lock the opposite way plus the police love pulling you over to check specifications on your motor coordinate with what you are towing etc
Great holidays for a young family, but check the caravan you buy is in good nick & compatibility with yor car is spot on .....
Storage on your drive also etc

cheers Joey, towing is no issue, I towed a knackered caravan years ago, and my mates better one with my 7.5t truck when I had that, and I have a class 1 hgv licence so pretty used to towing and reversing. Car is more than enough to tow even the heaviest caravan. I could do with a steer on what makes of 'van to avoid.

I had one years ago but we only had a Ford Escort at the time so we kept it down Breen in Somerset. Such fun, used to finish work at 4.30 on a Friday and be there in a couple of hours . Had it for a couple of years but had to give it up as I got pregnant (ironically in the caravan) so couldn't afford to pay site fees.
Hope you had the good grace to put one of the "if the caravan's rockin" stickers in the window.
