I remember years ago coming back to Liverpool from Manchester on the M62. Anyway a towed caravan in front of me started veering from side to side then went over the side of the motorway and down the slope. It was in absolute bits, just small pieces of wood left, and the car fortunately while dragged halfway down didn’t turn over. I appreciate that they’ve improved the connectors to stop this sort of thing but I’d never tow one…get an RV…….

Like many, we haven't been on hols for years and as we have two dogs who are sihtbags, kennels is out of the question. Mrs S has suggested getting a caravan. Towing is no problem, (I have a class 1HGV and a car more than capable of towing) storing it is no issue, and we camped/stayed I'm my truck when I raced so we know what we are getting into there, but I know nothing about caravans. We may look to spend 5-10k, will that get something big enough and good enough? What to avoid/look for?
Spend it on dog training. Think of the social value… two less shitty dogs and one less caravan

Same boat as myself. 2 dogs, 1 is ok, the other is hard work. Been looking at touring caravans or motorhomes.

Motorhomes seem far more expensive to but would be alot more practical. Stupidly i turned down my D1 license when work offered to pay for it a few years back so i would be restricted in my options.

Is there any merit in looking to buy from europe than the uk? Or are certain parts of the uk cheaper to buy? Have been told In the past its cheaper to buy cars in England/Scotland/Wales compared to here in the North.

9 top tips for caravaning.
1. Take your time choosing.
2. Make sure the inside is in good condition.
3. Check all the lights are working inside and out.
4. Cross winds are very dangerous so drive slowly.
5. Learn how to reverse it properly.
6. Buy 10 gallons of petrol.
7. Pour the petrol all over the inside of the caravan.
8. Put a match to it.
9. Stay in a hotel like a good lad and don't be blocking up the roads.
