Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Everton Manager

Brands hasn't spent anywhere near half a billion mate.
Exactly which of his signings do you have issues with , if "his record is poor" ?

Let's do this instead. Which have his signings have been a success? And what I mean by that is this. Is there anyone he's recruited that you could definitely say would be snapped up or walk into a team that was competing for the league?

His son was his assistant at Bayern and Napoli, he hasnt just left school and his da is giving him a job

Those two jobs were failures though and he took both Clubs backwards and was sacked part way through his second season.. Even more worrying is the Bayern players arranging their own training sessions, with Robben labelling Ancelotti's sessions as worse than his sons youth Club coaching. Hopefully Big Dunc stays in charge of training and we have high intensity sessions.

I don't agree. There's prospects for sure. A good signing to me, is someone who can come in and do more than a job. He's been here nearly 2 years. His record is poor and I don't see how he has improved what we have. The league table speaks for itself.

What I do see is, players who have massive potential. Digne, Mina etc. If you're in the the Dutch league that may cut it but we need players who will do it now. Quite frankly, his signings have been underwhelming at best, just like Walsh.

We've spent nearly half a billion, if you can't see that as a failure when we stand just above the relegation zone, you're not paying attention. By any measure that is a disgrace. And Walsh and Brands are equally culpable.
I'm fairly sure Brands didn't go in and break Gomes' leg, or injure the other lad. Have we failed in the signing of a striker? Yes, but that will change now that we have a good name as a manager. In fact, imo, the manager is a lot more of a culprit here than brands.

And LOL at Digne being not good enough - guy's come in and slotted perfectly in the Baines-sized hole we had. Mina seems to be good, save for the fact he can't play together with Keane as they're both too slow - he needs someone fast next to him. If the midfield is fit and ready - Delph is a decent backup player who can do any job in there.

He also can't ship out 20 players in a window - all of which are Walsh players. Sigurdsson is even more shocking than past years in that he doesn't even offer the random free kick or a shot from 5000 yards out, Tosun is such an Allerdyce player it's unbelievable, etc. etc.

Look at the table, as incompetent as Silva was, do you really believe it's just down to him? Half a billion spent. Half a billion. And after that you can't get in the top half. It's a joke.

Walsh was sacked for incompetence. Brands should follow him. We have players in the final third , who repeatedly can't find their man. After half billion, is that a return on your investment? Ancelotti has been appointed to arrest that.

Ancellotti himself is quoted today as saying that the squad is good mate , but that he intends to add to it.
You are already writing off Gbamin and Kean are you , despite one is out long term injured , and the other has not been given a run in the side. Gomes is out long term injured. Digne and Mina are good buys. Delph has been injured and despite his injury record is worth a gamble at the price. Bernard , although on big wages was a no brainer on a free. Most of them along with Pickford and Richarlison are good enough to be playing for Leicester. Would you not agree ?

And LOL at Digne being not good enough

Slow down tiger, I never said that Digne wasn't good enough. In fact, I said he has massive potential, Mina too. And that goes for all of Brands signings. What I am saying is, we've spent nearly half a billion and we're in the bottom half of the table. Why is that?

Is it the manager or recruitment, either way, someone has messed up. So we sacked the manager, what does that leave us with. This is what I'm suggesting to you. If Brands or Walsh for that matter had of been such a great success, we'd never of appointed Ancelotti. The reason we have is because, our directors of football have failed.

They've failed the club, they've failed the managers they were supposed to serve. Moshiri or whosoever is running our club, have had enough. So they've finally hired somebody who has a track record of spending money.

Yeah his son worries me too, especially he was one of the reasons why Carlo got sacked at Bayern. Hopefully Brands convince him to get rid of Davide and trust Big Dunc.

Dave has a point. It's unpalatable. But it's there. I wouldn't keep a team on who hasn't produced, in their playing or let alone their coaching career. I'd go for proven winners. I'm not necessarily advocating Stalinist purges, but can anyone give a reason why they should be maintained?

I don't know if there are cliques at the club or jobs for the boys. Irrespective, I'd want a clean slate, be judged on my own men not some one else. I would take a dim view of anyone who represented the old guard.

There's a saying in football. "show us your medals" Let's face it. There's an FA cup between them. We all talk about a winning mentality. Would you want to be coached by a European Championship winner or someone who can tell you how close they got.

The club needs a cull.
Mate, believe me, there is a culture of welfarism at that club that ill-befits people who have been lavished with millions of quid (and certainly hundreds of thousands of quid) in their playing careers. They work themselves and their own in there and Everton is a huge junket for them they think they can keep going until rertirement age. There's Everton in the Community, and then there's Everton in the Club. They are both charitable concerns; one is warranted, the other IS NOT.

This club needs a root and branch purge.

Pickford nope, Richarlison on his current form no-where near. In the future yes.

You seem rather adept at not answering questions in full mate , or only answering the bits that you think that your argument has a modicum of realism.
Each to their own . You have your view , and I have mine.

The DOF model is here to stay but if anything has to be taken from the wasted opportunity of the last 18 months, it's that the manager should be the one putting names to the board in terms of who we are to sign, Brands unfortunately has made a bit of a mess in that department to date.

It was telling that Mourinho said we should be looking to sign more Richarlison type players and less of the established players on a downward trajectory. I would expect Ancelotti to think the same.
Absolutely essential we get back to this.

If we have to have a DoF the job should be acquisition of players not scouting of them, and to make smooth the transition of youth players to first team players and identifying managerial targets.

This is honestly, so big for many reasons.

On a personal level, I can’t remember the last time I felt so optimistic about the future of the Club. But on a bigger level, this has changed the dynamic of how the Club is perceived not just by the short minded numpties in the media, but by footballers and agents.

When we got Silva, the only ex player the media could get to build him up was Troy Deeney. Before we even confirmed Ancelotti, there was a litany of genuine greats praising him to the heavens, it’s ridiculous the great players he has worked with, and the great players who love him. Top Players will now be more interested in coming to us because you will be managed by literally one of the greatest managers of the game.

Also, Ancelotti said in his book a few years ago, he prefers a family type club, not corporate institutions like Juve and PSG. I may be biased but I honestly think we are the best at that stuff, look at EITC, our relationship with past players, and the genuine goodness of our fans, I honestly believe this could be a perfect match.
